Robert Robinson GREEN, born August 10, 1811 at Kettle Creek, Cumberland County, Kentucky. Parents are probably a Robert GREEN and wife Elizabeth. Father born England, mother born Georgia, as per 1880 census. Father appears to have died before 1830, mother remarried to Ebnezer Orne in southwestern Wisconsin around 1830. She lived until after 1850 and died in El Dorado County, California. Possible siblings are Benjamin, Catherine, Lon, Washington, and Reuben. Benjamin and Catherine were born in Kentucky prior to 1820, Reuben was born in Illinois about 1825. Some of these went to California in the 1850s. A possible sibling to the elder Robert GREEN is a Jane GREEN who married William MURLEY and lived near him in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Robert Robinson GREEN was in southwestern Wisconsin by July 4, 1832. He married twice, first to Cinderella FARMER, several children, the only one who survived to adulthood, Robert Allen GREEN, died in the Civil War. Robert Robinson GREEN's second wife was Nancy Jane ASHMORE. Eight children: James Stanford (Martha Jane WEBSTER), Albert Shelton (Henrietta BOWMAN), George Washington (Joanna PAINE), Eliza Caroline (James LEGRO, Jacob PACE), William Robert (Rhoda Jane MCGUIRE), Ida Edith (William ESLICK), Nancy Jeanette (Philip WALTER, John SKAIFE), and Raphael Samuel (Olive Ann CRANDALL). The first seven were born in Wisconsin , the last one in South Dakota. Robert Robinson GREEN and family moved to Union County, South Dakota in 1864. He spent the rest of his life there, dying on September 27, 1890. He is buried in the Elk Point Cemetery, Elk Point, Union County, South Dakota.
