While we're at it. Alexander Washington Green born 1822 in West Flamboro, Ontario, Canada married Ellen Laughead in 1854 in West Garafraxa, Ontario, Canada. Alexander was the son of William Green ) born Hardwick, Sussex, New Jersey, USA) and Christina Markle born in Ontario. Many records have Alexander dying at 6 months old which I still can't figure that one out since he moved to Muskoka and had a large family. During all the census he was always living beside a sibling and even had a son he named after his brother-in-law. When looking up the baptismal records there he was with several of his siblings all at the same time. The book I have even had a burial place for him yet the records for that cemetery don't mention him being there at all. I even thought it might of been another brother but no sign of another sibling with that name. His grandparents were John Green and Mary Davis of New Jersey. Janine
http://www.geocities.com/janet_ariciu/Green.html John Green II born 14 Feb 1851 d 3 Apr 1937. In 1936, at the age of 86 John Green sat down and told his family story to his grand-daughter Margaret Leolia Green. Leolia wrote what her grandfather said and typed it up. She recopied it and pass it out among the family. My Grandfather John Green SR, married a Tipton and moved from (Georgia???) to near Lexington, LaFayette Co. MO. I think they came from Eastern Tennessee. May be near Georgia area or maybe their parents came from Georgia. But John or Elisha or Sarah were from Eastern Tennessee. There were eleven (11) brothers and a sister, Sarah Green. John SR and a brother Elias (Elisha) Green, settled in Platte Co. MO., far from Fort Leavenworth. Elias (Elisha) Green married Lindy (Melinda) Green. Linday maiden was Green but they were not related. The " Annals of Platte County, Missouri" mention the following about Elisha Green. Elisha Green b East Tennessee on May 15, 1801; died Jan 9,1855. Malinda m'd Elisha before 1821. I was told be John(2) that they were married in GA. Malinda could have be born in Henrico Co. Va.( not proven) In the Spring of 1826, he moved with his family to Lexington, M. and thence to Platte in 1837.He purchased a wigwam of a Pottawatomie Indian and settled in the Missouri bottoms, near Farley.. In 1844 he move to Platte City, and erected the hotel still known as GREEN HOUSE. In 1860 the Green House in Platte Co., MO sold by sheriff as the property of Beauchamp, Moore and Clifford... bought by Jonathan Tipton for $2,0031. "HISTORY OF CLAY AND PLATTE COUNTIES MISSOURI" "Elisha Green came to Platte county about 1838 and settled in the Missouri bottom above Farley, and opened a large farm. About 1845 he came to Platte City and became one of its most enterprising citizens. After moving to Platte County, MO., John Green married Susanna "Anna" Linebaugh on 23 Feb 1841 it was filed 28 Feb 1841. I think that John died short time after their marriage. I own copy of their marriage record. The last know date for John Green is court record filed 10/18/1847.
