In the 1850 census, he's in Sandy Run, Rutherford Co., NC, age 50m with wife Lucy age 41, and these children: Elizabeth age 18 Nancy age 16 Sarah age 14 Mary age 12 Also in the home is William Green, age 22, listed as a laborer. I have a theory about this Lewis Green. I believe his wife Lucy to be the Lucy Green mentioned in the minutes of Walls Baptist Church. She was asked to leave the church after it was brought to the attention of the powers-that-be that she had married her uncle and that she had previously been booted out of Sandy Run Baptist Church, who were the informants to the Walls elders. I now believe Lucy to be the daughter of Benjamin and Nancy Lovelace. Nancy lives next to Lewis and Lucy in 1850 as head of household following, according to my theory, Benjamin's death prior to that census. Given the information in the church records, Lewis and Nancy would be siblings under this theory. Lewis is mentioned several times in the Walls Church records, but never as a member... he is always listed as "a friend". His daughter Elizabeth eventually marries Daniel Lovelace, who is probably either the son of grandson of Benjamin and Nancy, and who is living with Nancy in 1850. In 1860, Lewis is surrounded by his daughters and their husbands, and I am in possession of a deed which lists them all as his daughters under their married names. Lewis is also mentioned as the bondsman for several marriages of Lovelace men, including my gggrandfather William Lovelace, his probable brother James Lovelace, and a couple others, all with geographic ties to my gggrandfather and probably to Benjamin and Nancy Lovelace. There is also a marriage bond for the marriage of another younger Lewis Green to an Elizabeth Loveless in 1842. I have not been able to place either of these folks into a family as yet. I have also been unable to trace Lewis or find where he came from. He is not listed in the 1830 or the 1840 Rutherford Co. census, and I have been unable to find him anywhere else. What I would really like to find is some proof that Lewis and Nancy are siblings. Any help out there? Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]
