In a folder at the Laurens County, SC library I found some old communications dated 1966 between a Mrs. James W. Wolcott (Patricia Green Wolcott) of Kentucky and a Jennie V. Culbertson of Laurens. A brief paraphrase: Mrs. Wolcott states that her Greens went to Warren Co. Tenn. Her Great Great Grandfather was Elias H. Green (born 1814), who was living next door to a David Green. David was Elias' father, uncle or grandfather. Inez Green Slice of Columbia and Eddie Marie Green Howerton were great grandchildren to Elias H. Ms. Culbertson sent Mrs. Wolcott info on Rev David Green who was a charter member of Poplar Springs, and David was living near the church in 1785. In 1804 Bro. Green is received as Poplars pastor, Bethel Assn. Prior member of Turkey Creek. This David Green and his wife were associated with Chechister Matthew (of Turkey Creek) who moved west and it is believed that when Bro and Sister Green requested letter of dismission in Oct 1804, they also moved west.
