Hi, Audrey Nope, not working on George as of yet, but I'm trying to sort out some of the early Greens, impossible as that seems. Does anyone have any information on the ancestry or marriage of Lewis Green, b. c1800, who was found married to wife Lucy in the 1850 Rutherford Co. census? He's living right beside Nancy Lovelace in the midst of several Green families in Sandy Run District. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Greg, I have been searching for a Lewis Green, the father of Marion Green (b.1847 in MO). Census records show that Marion's father was born in NC consistently. His mother's records waver between NC and Tenn--leaving me thinking along with somebody else that possibly he didn't move and she didn't either, that she was from the area of NC that became Tenn. Since Marion was b in MO in 1847, all likelihood Marion's father wouldn't be in NC in 1850--but possibly his grandfather could? If they followed the common pattern of naming children earlier names of the family then this could be one of my ancestors. Please let me know if you find children for him and Lucy. I have an aunt named Nancy Pearl so that Nancy name came from somewhere! I'm sorry I can't provide any background for you since the only info I have on Marion's father are from Marion's records: death certificate, marriage bond, etc. I saw those few connections and grasped at the strings! Thanks for anything you might provide. I am related to the Lewis Green whose father was William Green married to Lucy Tyus. If you want to check him out--if you are new to researching Lewis Green?--use Lucy Tyus's name at Rootsweb and go from there. I have been told by David Green, I believe, a long time Green researcher and 'going to publish a GREEN BOOK' this Lewis was called the Revolutionary War Lewis Green. Don't know if David's book is out or not.
