Hello, Green researchers looking at western North Carolina. I need help with an early Henry Green in Rutherford Co., NC. I have just received a copy of a deed from Rutherford Co., NC. Henry Green to David Hambrick (Hamrick) on 27 September 1810. The deed was witnessed by Berry Hicks and Benjamin Lovelace. Berry Hicks is the Reverend Berryman Hicks, spouse of Elizabeth Durham and father of Artemincy Hicks who married Abra(ha)m Lovelace. Berryman also performed the marriage of Green Lovelace and Rebecca Moore on 12 Sept 1830. I haven't identified which of several David Hamricks this one is. And Benjamin Lovelace is my Lovelace ancestor (or so the evidence seems to consistently point to him). I have reason to believe that Nancy Lovelace, whom I believe to be Benjamin's spouse, was a Green before her marriage to Benjamin, and I'm wondering if she might be a descendant of this Henry Green. Does anyone have a handle on the Henry Greens who show up in Rutherford County? Particularly in the Sandy Run District and the Walls Church/Piney Mountain area? If you have any information you can share on the Henry Greens and their descendants which would help me to confirm or refute my theory about Nancy, I would dearly love to see it! Thanks in advance :-) Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus]
Hi Greg, we had talked before about my ancestor, Henry Ben Green, from Rutherford County, but you hadn't made any connection at that time between your Green family and mine. I don't have much on his descendants, except guesses on most of his children. He had 7 daughters all born before 1830, so I only know of his daughter, Lucinda, to be my gggrandmother who married William Forester in Polk County. I suspect another daughter might be Sarah who married James Hall. I don't know if this is the Henry Green you have mentioned. Why don't you contact me if you think is the same person, I hate to say how ignorant I am about places there. My parents left the area before I was born.
