Maybe it's just me but this doesn't sound suspicious at all. I often get emails from new "cousins" that I've never met and sometimes I use my husband's laptop while we're traveling - he isn't allowed to put our personal email addys on government property. I'm not sure how "mining" is done but I've never gotten Spam as a result of posting any of my family names nor with a genealogy-related Subject - usually Spam has a completely identifiable Subject line - i.e., you'll know it when you see it. The most important thing is: Do you recognize any other the names she gave? If you are, indeed, related to Edwards Whipple GREEN, then I wouldn't pass up the chance to make the contact. You can always Block any future emails. JM.02, Melinda
