Have you tried to get a death certificate from NY for Adelia Green Helms? If she died after 1880, when NY required records, you might be able to get a certificate from the town where she died (if you know it ) which may identify her parents. (I typically call the town clerk instead of writing to NY State Archives and usually get what I need much faster). Good luck to you.....
