    3. Hi all. As NJ Greens have come up.. maybe someone can shead some light on Adelia Green born abt 1849 in Bergen County, NJ parents unknown.. Now was this person hatched...? I sent the following information to a person who has an Orange County, NY book.. Well it is hard to say.. I know they were or at least Charles was Methodist , and most of my family is Republican. However, LOL I'm not.... A clue to Charles, in the research Don Stralhe was doing Charles showed up as Vincent Helme (born 1845) son of Henry Helme and Ann Gannon, (no wonder I had trouble finding him). He died in Carbondale, PA. as did Adelia, on her Death Certificate it only states that she was born in Bergen, County, NJ.. I'm on that root list and I have looked at a lot of records and find nothing.. my Cousin Ann, who I found this July has hired someone to locate records on Adelia.. but so far nothing... Note a brother and Sister of Charles, were unknown to the researchs yet Ann had proof of their existance. Charles obit listed a Brother Joseph Helme and a sister Ellen Hill of NYC, both still alive in 1907. Also Ann had a letter written to Charles from Joseph, and since August we not only found were Charles fit into the Helmes line but also Ann located the Descentants of Joseph Helme, (b 1842 )now Joseph married a Rachel Bamper who was from Bergen County. I have a copy (old) of the ORANGE CO. PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD. I lists two Greenes (no everyname index): George W, Highland Mills b. 16 Oct, 1846 hi father Horatio Nelson and Sarah Ann (Dickens) Green , b. in Monroe..the grandfather of our subject (i.e. GeoW.) was Samuel Green. His father, Samuel Green and his father-in-law, Mr. Marigold, forged the great chain which was stretched across the river at West Point for the purpose of preventing the passage of British ships.. FYI Mr. George W. Greene is a Methodist Episcopal, in IOOF, and a Republican!!!! Now, I now that a Daniel Green married into the Helme Family.. so I wonder if purhaps some place the Green's of Bergen County. (can't find any) were cousins of the Green's in Orange County, NY. The witnesses at the Wedding were a Nelson Wilson and a Henry Morgan. There was a Carrie Wilson who married John Van Horn, who Charles was friends with. I also have looked into the Naming System that everyone talks of.. the first girl in the family was named Carrie. the next (my greatgrandmother) was Mary Elizabeth Helme. Now their was a Robert Helme (Ann's Grandfather). I have not found a Robert in the Helmes line.. (clue ?) What do you think? When it comes to Adelia I sometimes feel I'm pulling at straws... ! The only other thing I can think of is that she did not like her given name.. and used a middle name Adelia. As Charles hated Vincent..and used only Charles V. Helms... Can any of you shead a spot of light in my cousin Ann's and my direction it would be great. Well there is my ideas.. got any to add to it.. (smile) Thanks. Wanda
