Hi Dawn, I agree with Tom that you have some families confused. As Tom Stated, the William Green you have listed in your message does not belong with this family and is the grandson of the William Green who died in NJ in 1722. The William whom married Phebe Moore is buried in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ewing NJ. Other headstones in a line with his are: sons - Elijah & Samuel; daughter - Mary; wife - Phebe; a stone with partial name "ABAIL"- might be Phebe's sister, Abigail Moore. One other stone is said to belong to the William who died in 1722. To make matters less confusing I'll refer to the Williams as 1 2, & 3, with William3 being the William you mention. Some researchers believe that William3 inherited William1's brick house that is still standing today on the campus of Trenton State College, directly from William2 who had inherited it from William1. Published works by Robert Reeder Greene allude to this fact as does a plaque placed on the house in 1927. However, William1's will clearly states that he left his newly built brick house to his eldest son, Richard and that his younger sons, Joseph & William2 were to share the house & plantation that William1 had purchased from John Severns. it is my opinion, that, perhaps, someone has exercised a little literary license here or that the full story has not been discovered yet. I would be interested in what other Green(e) researchers think. Here is what I have on William3's family: Generation No. 1 1. WILLIAM3 GREENE III (WILLIAM2, WILLIAM1) was born 1743, and died 1815. He married PHEBE MOORE, daughter of SAMUEL MOORE and REBECCA GREENE. Notes for WILLIAM GREENE III: William was a soldier in Washington's Army at the Battles of Trenton and Monmouth. Listed in Feb. & Mar. 1777 on the Muster Rolls Of Captain James Shaw's Company of New jersey Volunteers in the regiment commanded by Colonel Joseph Barton.
