Robert, I have a sizeable data base of Greens whose progenitor was a Peter Green (c.1730/1750 - 1803 who is reported by various branches of the family to have been born in France or have had a father who was born in France. He and his wife produced about 11 children, of whom I have some descending information on four, one of whom was one of my 3G grandfather. They originally lived in the Ramapo Mountains in Orange County, New York where they worked in the mines and furnaces. Later generations could be found in Warwick and Southfields (their Ramapo town of origin), New York, and in Ringwood and other spots in northern New Jersey. I've had contact with a number of descendants including several from my branch which migrated to Hunterdon County, New Jersey in the 1820's and are not to be confused with the Samuel Green family of the same area. That you trace your Peter and Albert to the Orange County area and report the "French connection" could indicate a relationship. Unfortunately, I have no Alberts in my data, no Peter Green with a similar birth date and no mention of an Etta Howell. Do you have any further information that might provide clues?
