I offer a slight correction to your posting on the military unit that William Green served in. He was in a Loyalist regiment, lost his 300 acres he inherited from his father Samuel Green to the Committees of Correspondence, went west first to Fayette County, Pennsylvania 1784, then north of Pittsburgh to Armstrong County, Pennsylvania 1791 where he farmed, raised three sons Samuel, John, and James. Also your designators for the Williams as I, II, and III might confuse some. Sugrest (1), (2), and (3) Notes for WILLIAM GREENE III: William was a soldier in Washington's Army at the Battles of Trenton and Monmouth. Listed in Feb. & Mar. 1777 on the Muster Rolls Of Captain James Shaw's Company of New Jersey LOYALIST Volunteers in the regiment commanded by Colonel Joseph Barton. Go to this page for confirmation and further details: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/njshwbar.htm PS: There exists in the DAR a membership application in which the member (now deceased) used her ancestor William for admittance. Sorry, her data was in error. She had all details right about William but his unit of service. She chose some other William Green who did fight for George Washington. Brian Green
