Indeed there was a Hette/Hettie Green. Many years ago I read a biography of her entitled, "THE DAY THEY SHOOK THE MONEY TREE" (or something very close to that). Sorry, but I do not recall the author. She inherited her wealth from her father of the New England area, who sold his whaling fleet just before the advent of the gas light. I don't recall very much about it, but her two children, a son and a daughter, did suffer from her love of money. She did have a talent for increasing her wealth, which was something not done "at that time". Green may have been her married name, but I'm not sure. Geraldine M. Weir weir@bayou.com
