    3. Here's more info on Hetty Green's ancestors from another online library. If you want more info, let me know. Jo "In 1652 Henry Howland was among the original purchasers of Dartmouth...acquired from the Indians. Subsequently, with twenty-six others, he bought the land known as Assonet, including the present town of Freetown, Massachusetts, and here his son Samuel settled..." Henry Howland married Mary Newland of Lynn, Massachusetts. They had four sons: Zoeth, who was killed by Indians and whose descendents accumulated a great fortune in land and whaling and which was later famed as the Hetty Green fortune; John; Joseph; Samuel, whose son Joshua married Dorothy Lee. They were the parents of Isaac Howland who married Katherine Howard and who begat Roba who married Henry Edminster.
