I am looking for information on the Green Family from Virginia who lived in Gibson County TN . My 3rd Great Grandfather was Robert Green born about 1790.Info on Robert Green, according to the 1850&1860 census he was born in 1790 or 1791. His tombstone says he died in July of 1867, Aged 87 Yrs. Born in Virginia. He was married in Culpeper in 1824 by the reverend Alonzo Walton. His first son was William P. his second was Charles and his third was Robert. If you follow the naming customs Roberts father should be a William???? His wife has a unusual name. In 1850 Mahithalem, in 1860 Mahethelun, on her headstone it is Mahefley. When I found the marriage record in Culpeper in 1824 for Methelean Pinckard and Robert Green, I was sure I found the right couple. After the children were born they moved to Trenton, Gibson County, Tennessee. When he writes his will in 1864 he mentions his fathers estate in Virginia. I just need to figure out who Robert's (B: 1790) father was. I have both of there wills and found only one clue. It sounds like they were bickering in their wills about their Fathers estates. Robert changes his will in 1867 because Mathelean is claiming part of his father's estate. He is 77 at this time so I would assume his father has passed and their is some dispute ongoing over the will. When she writes her will in 1877 she is still talking about her fathers estate not being settled. I first find them in Gibson County Tenn in 1840 The children I find are William P. born in 1826, Virginia born in 1829, Sarah Ann born in 1832(my GGGrandmother), Robert TO. born in 1835, Elijah born in 1838, and Charles born in 1842. Sarah had told on of her sons that she was related to Gen. Nathaniel Green. They the middle name of Green. My Grandfather and Grandfathers were both Charles Green Phelan. ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
