The Rootsweb Cooperative not only sponsors these lists, but the USGenweb, The Roots-L surname registry, and many other genealogical resources. It takes a lot of money to keep Rootsweb up and running, and while the personnel are volunteers, the equipment needs constant work and upgrades. They rely on private subscriptions.
