The General died soon after the war ended, and Catharine LIttlefield Green made many trips between her estate near Savannah, Georgia and her family home in New England. These entires you have found deal with her travels with her children and their education. The General has spent his own money to finance the war, as well as his credit, so after his death, Catharine Littlefield Greene had to make many trips to meet with Congress in an attempt to receive re-payment for what her husband had spent. Catharine did not like to travel by sea, since she had spent her early days on Block Island in Rhode Island, so she and her children went north by land on several trips. Catharine was also a business partner with Ely Whitney after he invented the cotton gin in her home, and the gins were made in New England, so Catharine made a number of trips regarding their cotton gin business. I love the stories about our ancestors, and appreciate you posting the info. Tom Green
