Barbour, Ann Waller and Mildred Washington, with, like I mentioned last night, William Green (b. 1762- d. 1835) being the son of Mildred Washington. Susan >> Hi Susan, It is a little more complicated than your friend tells you. Duff Green married at least twice, first to a Miss. Balbour (Balfore) who died and then he married in about 1750 to Ann Willis, born September 14, 1731, who was the daughter of Col. Henry Willis the founder of Fredericksburg, Va. The Col. was married three times, first to Ann Alexander Smith in 1714, and after her death, Col. Henry Willis married Mildred Howell in 1726, who had been previously married to Dr. John Brown. These were the parents of Ann Willis who married Duff Green. When Mildred Howell died, Col. Henry Willis married for the third time in 1733 to Mildred Warner Washington, who had been previouly married to Roger Gregory. Mildred Warner Washington was the daughter of Capt. Lawrence Washington and his wife Mildred Warner. Capt. Lawrence Washington was the brother of Capt. Augustine Washington, the father of President George Washington. There is a lot of confusion and mis-information about these three wives of Col. Henry Willis, and many researchers believe that the last two wives were sisters, but I have not found that to be true. There are also those who believe that Ann Willis was the daughter of the last wife, but the dates don't confirm this. I will post this to the list, as I am sure others will want to add their info.
