In regard to what Tom said about the three wives of Col. Henry WILLIS, I agree with Col. WILLIS having three wives. However, the second wife was not Mildred HOWELL. She was Mildred LEWIS. She had a first marriage to John HOWELL and had one child by him. Then she married Dr. John BROWN and no children by that marriage. Her third husband was Col. Henry WILLIS and it was this marriage that produced Ann WILLIS who married Duff GREEN. After Mildred LEWIS Howell-Brown-Willis died, Col. WILLIS did marry Mildred WASHINGTON and they had one child. Mildred LEWIS & Mildred WASHINGTON were first cousins, not sisters as Tom has pointed out. Their mothers were WARNER sisters. Imogene Bennett ibennett@mail.orion.org
