On Nov 16, 1742, William Gilliam of the Parish of Albemarle, "for love and good will to my daughter Margery and her husband, Richard Hill", gave them 200 acres of land beginning at a tree between John Gilliam and LEWIS GREEN, adjoining Col. Bolling and the Miery Marsh, with reversion, is no issue, to his son William Gilliam. Witnesses were WILLIAM GREEN, PETER GREEN and WILLIAM GREEN, Jr. (Surry county Deed bk >> Hi Louis, I hope this doesn't confuse everyone even more, but here is my OPINION of how the above people fit together. Capt. Richard Hill, born 1720, married Margery Gilliam, the daughter of William Gilliam, born 1704, who married Susanna Green, the daughter of Lewis Green, Jr. born about 1680, who married Frances Gilliam, the sister of William Gilliam. Is that clear as mud?? I have a 1980 letter from Ruth Phillips that says that William Gilliam was the brother-in-law of Lewis Green who married Frances ( ? ). From this tid-bit, and the names of these families that everyone has posted, this is my opinion of how they fit together. Lewis Green, Jr. is shows as the son of Lewis Green born about 1639 in Prince George County, Virginia, who MAY have been the son, or brother, of Edward Green, who was the son of Thomas Green. I would love to hear everyone's opinion of how these families fit together. Tom Green
