Thanks bushels, Brenda Jo >> Hi Brenda Jo, I show that the first Thomas Green and his wife Martha came to Virginia from Rotterdam, Holland on the ship "Speedwell" which was suppose to have been the sister ship of the Mayflower, but had leak problems and had to return to port on that first voyage to America. On a later trip, the Speedwill arrived in 1635, so that is the considered the birth year of the son, Thomas "The Seagull" Green, who was born on the Speedwell on the way to America. Thomas married Martha Filmer, the daughter of Major Henry Filmer, born in 1605, a British officer. Thomas and Martha Filmer Green had issue: (1) Thomas Green born about 1665, and died 1730 in Amelia County, Virginia, and married Elizabeth Marston, born November 25, 1672, died August 11, 1759 in Amelia County, Va. (2) Elizabeth Green, born about 1667, who married John Crawley about 1790. (3) John Green, born about 1683, died 1732 who 1st married Elizabeth ( ? ). Next married Martha Coleman ?? maybe. (4) Rebecca Green, who 1st married Mr. Condon, and 2nd married Mr. Marston. (5) Mary Green who 1st married Thomas Walker, and 2nd married James Wilkerson. (6) Hannah Green, who married James Turner. (7) Filmer Green, born about 1700, who married Mary Walker born about 1683. (8) Col. Abraham Green, born about 1705, died 1783 in Amelia County, Va., who 1st married Elizabeth Cowles, and 2nd married the widow Ann (Blunt) Nicholson October 9, 1758. (9) William Green, born about 1705, died 1745 or 1747, who married Amey Clay, the daughter of Henry Clay, born 1672, and Mary Mitchell, born 1693. William and Amey Clay Green had at least 6 children: Martha, Amey, Filmer, William, John, and Thomas Green, born about 1735, who married Martha ( ? ), who had Ann, Thomas, Elizabeth, and John Green, born about 1745, who married Elizabeth "Betty" Arthur. They had 3 children; James, Tabitha, and Barnabus Green born September 25, 1775. You are probably aware that a lot of the dates for the Seagull family are incorrect, and many have been estimated incorrectly for years. There are many researchers working on this family, and I will post this info to the Green list in hopes that others will add to, or correct this data. Hope this helps you in some way. Tom Green
