    1. [GREEN-L] NEW YORK BIRTHS AND BAPTISMS
    2. Hi Folks, Thought this might be of interest, although it doesn't give a date when it will be online. When it goes online, it can usually be searched for "free" for the first week or so at: http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/recent.asp NEW YORK BIRTHS AND BAPTISMS Ancestry.com announces the publication of a valuable collection of genealogical records chronicling over 300,000 individuals entitled New York Births and Baptisms. These actual transcripts (not merely an index) usually include child, parents, date and place of birth/baptism, and names of sponsors for churches located in Greene, Ulster, Rockland, Dutchess, Westchester, and Putnam counties from 1660 to 1899. Using Ancestry.com's powerful search software, researchers will be able to locate every name in the collection. These entries represent an extremely valuable genealogical resource, especially since the state of New York did not require keeping records of this type until 1880. This collection, like many others, can only be found at Ancestry.com. The New York Births and Baptisms, compiled from original records or photocopies of originals, was collected and transcribed by Arthur C. M. Kelly of Kinship Publishing of Rhinebeck, NY and is the result of 40 years of genealogical scholarship. The collection will be available online part of the Ancestry.com Library, and as a CD-ROM product later this year. This collection represents a valuable addition to the hundreds of databases that are currently available at Ancestry.com. ~~~~~~~~~ Whoever sees it online first should let us know so we know it's been uploaded. I checked this evening and it wasn't available yet. 121 Volumes of the DAR Lineage Books are up for free searching, though. Fran
