Hi All! New to the Green List and hope someone can help us find our ancestor William "Cedar" Green. This is what I know about him. Wm. Cedar Green b. Ireland/Scotland arrived in NY in 1778. At that time in NY there was a committee to instruct immigrants to the best part of the country according to their occupations. Since William was a farmer he was told to head for NC, so he went and bought land and built a house in a cedar grove, hence comes his name "Cedar" from his neighbor's. He lived out his days in NC. He had five children, two sons and three daughters. All grew up and married in NC. Don't know who his wife was or the names of his children except one, his son, wouldn't you know, another William. He went as William B. "Buckalu/Buckaloo Green b 1785 NC d aft 1850 Williamson Co. , TN and is buried in the Green Family Cem. mar. Martha "Patsy" Rainey and had 8 children: Lucinda b 1815 mar Joseph Hendricks, James Carroll b 1816 mar Elizabeth White, Minerva b 1818 mar John P. White (this is our line) Mahalia b 1820 mar Aaron Beard, Tabitha b 1823 mar George Beard, Zachariah b 1825 mar Olly Smith, Arthemesis b 1826 mar William Sullivan and Mariah b 1829 (never married) If this rings any bells, I would love to hear from you.
