My point is that what I find seems to be in question. Dates don't match the expected marriages, children too far apart, that sort of thing. >> Hi Ken, I know how you feel, as I am attempting to do much the same thing you are doing. Various members of my family have searched for the parents of William Green, born February 6, 1762 in Prince Edward County, Virginia for over 30 years, and I believe it is safe to say, that if there was some document that names the parents of my 4th great grandfather, someone would have found it by now. Some years ago, I noted that Prince Edward County was formed from Amelia County, Va and many of the descendants of the Thomas "The Seagull" Green family lived in these counties. I have therefore collected considerable data on this family, and you are correct about the dates. There are numerious errors in the dates of this family, but I have not been concerned about these errors, since I am looking two or three generation down the family tree for the parents of my William Green. I am alarmed that we do not seem to have well documented information in the 3rd and 4th generation of the family. I know this information is out there, but it has been very difficult to research. I have had pretty good luck in researching Thomas Green, born about 1665, the son of Thomas "Seagull" Green. He married Elizabeth Marston who was born November 25, 1672 and many of their children and grandchildren were notable citizens. I have also had good luck with Col. Abraham Green who was the sheriff of Amelia County, Va. He married Elizabeth Cowles about 1725, and their daughter, Obedience Green, born about 1730, married her first cousin, William Green, the son of William and Amey Clay Green. I have more info on the family of William and Amey Clay Green than any other, and this family is where the Horsepen land was concentrated. I have little more that one or two generation of the other children of Thomas "Seagull" Green. There are a number of Web Pages that contain considerable details about this family. Good Luck in your search! Tom Green
