Here we go... My grandfather, James Alvin Greene, was born in 1907 in Dickson Co. TN., but raised in Houston Co. TN and I have no idea where these Greenes/Greens were really from. His siblings were: Walter, Wallace, Ethel, Martha, Ida. His mother was Laura Medcalf/sometimes spelled Metcalf who was born in Humphreys Co. His father (WE THINK) was James Thomas Greene, but are not sure because he left Laura with six children when my grandfather was a baby. The old man's name was not allowed to be mentioned, nor were the Greenes, and my grandfather never knew his father, although WE THINK he died around 1942 (have no idea where he was buried), and my mother believes he worked in Nashville at Worthen Bag Co. Walter and Wallace later lived with their father and the family heard they dropped the "e" from the end of the name. I have gotten absolutely no where on these lines, cannot find the right census in the right county apparently... and the family left living knows nothing. I cannot even locate any cousins descending.
