Tom, Were your Greens still in Carroll Co. in 1840? Some of the given names you listed show up in John Cephas GREEN's family, but none of them are unusual, I suppose! There were at least two or three Tillmans in our family, Thomas & William occur frequently, as do Martha & Elizabeth John Cephas GREEN was b. 08 MAR 1812. According to various census schedules he was born in SC. He married Nancy T. HUCKEBA/HUCKABY, daughter of William and Sarah (Brown) Huckaby in Coweta Co., GA, in 1836. They were listed (on p. 51) in Carroll Co. on the 1840 census, though they apparently left GA around 1841. John C. Green was said to have participated in the Creek War of 1836, though I have yet to confirm it. Stories have him and his brother in law fighting in the Creek Wars, then buying land in the newly opened up federal land areas of the Creek Cessions in Alabama. His children were Samuel W. (b. ca 1837), Henry T., Thomas P., Elizabeth C., Martha Matilda, Andrew H., James Crawford, Sarah F., Lucious Leroy (my gggrandfather), Sallie J., and John C. I believe the two youngest children died at fairly early ages and that Sarah F. died as a young woman. I can follow most all the rest except Samuel W. Green. He was still living in 1870, when he was listed in Randolph Co., AL, with a wife (Martha) and two children. Have you ever come across this John Cephas GREEN or any of his children? Elisabeth
