My first hunch would be that this John Green is also a son of Filmer. The will for Thomas in 1792 mentions a son, John, dec'd. I have been working on the hypothesis that this John is the same John who married Betty Arthur in Lunenburg, later Bedford Co. and died in 1776. I do not have the source of Lewis, but suspect that it comes from an attempt to rationalize the inheritance and sale back to William. Charley Green >> Hi Charley, What documentation I have found is in the Amelia County, Virginia records. I have seen a simular description of the "1/5 interest" of Lewis Green as "heir- at-law" on E-Mail message, but have not found documentation of his involvment. The John Green that married Betty Arthur was the son of Thomas Green the eldest son of William and Amey Clay Green. There is a book on Old Homes in Amelia County which has a picture of one of the houses owned my this family, and there is a description of this transaction given under the picture. I got an E-Mail the other day from a lady who has visited the old home, and she said a descendant still lives there. I have a map of the general location of the old home and I intend to visit the home when I find the time to go to Virginia. This home is not too far from the site of the home Robert Green, born 1695 built near Brandy Station. Tom Green
