First of all let me say that the dates in the "Seagull" Green family are the most suspect of any family I have researched, but I want to mention that I show Thomas Green, the elder brother of William Green, who married Amey Clay, was born about 1665 and died in Amelia County, Virginia in 1730. If this death date is any where near being correct, he could not have been the Thomas Green named as guardian of the minor children of his brother William Green since William died 1747. I believe that the guardian was Thomas Green, the eldest son of William and Amey Clay Green. I show he was born about 1725, and would therefore have been about age 22 when his father William Green died in 1747. All the other children were minors. You are probably aware that this Thomas Green had a son also named Thomas Green, born about 1750, who married Martha Coleman. His name appears in many of the Amelia County, Virginia records, and may confuse the issue. Of course, if my dates are off just a couple of years, the above story is incorrect. There are other possible Thomas Greens that could also have been the guardian of William and Amey Clay Green's minor children. Thomas and Elizabeth Marston Green had a son named Thomas Marston Green born November 19, 1723, so he could have been the guardian of his uncle's minor chilren. I am sure the other brothers of William Green had sons named Thomas Green, so any of them could have been the guardian of their Uncle William Green's minor children. There is another famous family that could have been involved in the squable over the land discussed above. Amey Clay was the sister of Charles and Henry Clay who married Lucy and Martha Green, daughers of Thomas and Elizabeth Marston Green. This Clay family was very important in our country's history, as I am sure you know. Col. Thomas Marston Green, the brother of Martha and Lucy Green, went to Georgia and talked the government into creating a county in the Natchez area, when the Spanish chaimed that part of America. On top of that, Col. Green went to Natchez and told the Spanish to get out of town! This was not a shy and retiring family! What do you think? Tom Green
