William Robert Alexander McLeary GREEN was born February 16, 1842 in Roane County, TN. He first married Mary A. WHITLOCK 12/13/1848 in Green County, KY. Children were: Pleasant A. Green Sarah Jane Green Marion Radford Green George Alferrd Green He second married Etna Ann NELSON 7/12/1860 in Metcalf County, KY. Children were: Charlie E. Green Bettie T. Green James C. Green Dora P. Green Henry A. Green Lucy B. Green William P. Green Emily S. Green Luther Green Nellie Green (my grandmother) Walter B. Green William's brothers were PETER GREEN, ALBERT HUSTON GREEN, JOHN GREEN, AND SAMUEL GREEN. Peter's death certificate says their father and mother were William Green and Amelia MATTINGLY. William and Albert refer to a grandmother MATNEY in Civil War Pension depositions. Looking for information verifying William and his brothers' parents. Where were they before Roane County, TN? What happened to their parents? Was Amelia's name really Matney and not Mattingly? William died in Clay County, TN in 1919, was buried in KY close to the state line and was removed to a cemetary in Macon County, TN when his wife died in 1923.
