I am seeking information on the descendants of GOV. THOMAS GREEN (2nd governor of colonial Maryland) and his first wife ANN GERARD COX. The widow Cox, sister of Sir Richard Gerard, arrived in Maryland with her brother on the Ark or Dove in 1633-4. In 1634 she married Thomas Green in what is believed to be the first Christian marriage performed in Maryland. They had two sons, THOMAS AND LEONARD. Ann died about 1645 or 46. Her husband remarried once (some think twice) more. He and his last wife, Winifred Seybourne, had two sons, ROBERT & FRANCIS. GOV. THOMAS GREEN, son of Sir Thomas Green of Bobbing Kent Manor in England, died at St. Mary's, Maryland in 1651. I have found information on the governor's younger son Francis, but am trying to connect GERARD GREEN (1761-1845) to either of the older sons, Thomas or Leonard. (Note: some records make me think Gov. Green was also named Henry; his son Thomas also seems to be called Henry in at least one early source.) Any information about this line will be appreciated even if it does not fit with my northern Virginia Green's. The story of Thomas and Ann grows more fascinating with each new discovery.
