Mellie, Apparently a virus is creeping into all sorts of lists. There has been some discussion on two other surname lists that I am on about a virus. Many think it is somehow circumnavigating the Rootsweb system and going through to the various lists. I don't know. I personally have not received any of the emails in question, so I feel that they are somehow being sent by someone else or someone else's computer. I received an email today on another list stating that this same thing was going on with 3 of the lists they subscribe to. I think it is best we all scan our emails BEFORE opening them. Rootsweb does not allow attachments, so I do not understand why anyone would open email attachments that appear to be from Rootsweb. I hope this is all cleared up soon. Until then, all emails will be scanned BEFORE I open them. donna :o)
I had replied prior to your email coming in, so you will see my previous comments, I don't think that it is actually coming via rootsweb, the emails I got were "from" Support to my email address with teh heading Liverpool docks queries something I had queried a long time ago regarding ships leaving Liverpool, it seems that a virus has entered a persons address book and sends discriminately to everyone else in the book, thus bypassing roots web, lets face it hackers are usually one step ahead!
