However, I think it very important that we all understand that searching for your family on the internet is a very inefficient method. True, some census data is available, but certainly not all of it. This is also true of land records, ship passenger lists, etc. Once in a while you can make a contact with someone who has valuable information, but we must understand that this happens very rarely. My suggestion to those who are just getting started is to find out where your closest National Archives is located and visit there as often as possible. Not only will you find all census records, but military records, land records, ship passenger lists, etc. Also geneological sections in local libraries have county histories and other data which can be extremely helpful. Then possibly, the internet can supplement what information you already have. But please, don't expect this site, or others, to give you a lot of information, unless you include enough information to delineate your relative from a person of the same name. ,
