    3. Help! Help! Please! I am in possession of some probate papers on a young GARDNER GREEN, s/o Henry Green, b., 1785, SC, my ggg grandfather. (At least I thought it was my Gardner Green, not so sure now) Briefly, this was probated in Jackson Co., ILL. The papers mention "Fanny", Henry and Mary Jane Green, his siblings, along with minor heirs Sarah Frances Green, b., 3/4/1856 and Jospehine Ellen Green b., 1/1/1860, (the "minor heirs" is confusing as one paper indicates that Sarah is also his sister, but is not clear as to the relationship of Josephine Ellen.) The date of death of Gardner Green is on or about 4/16/1865, according to the first paper in the probate file, which is dated 11/17/1866. The final paperwork being dated 12/18/1868, when the money distributions are made, to each person named above, except Josephine Ellen Green, who seems to disappear between September 1868 and November 1868. The man who does the paperwork on this probate is a Gottleib Doetsch, who is appointed Guardian of young Sarah and Josephine. On December 18, 1868, Doetsch accepts the money share of young Sarah Frances Green but no mention is made of Josephine. Mr. Doetsch appears on the 1870 census for Killian Precinct, Jackson, without either Sarah or Josephine with him and his family. He is not found again in any on-line census or anything for ILL., that I have found. BIG PROBLEM.....my Gardner Green, wife and eight (8) children are found alive and well on the 1870 census for Jefferson county, ILL., having no children or anyone in the household named either Sarah Frances or Josephine Ellen. My Gardner's brother Henry Green had daughters Mary and Sarah, b., 1852, who appear to be twins, and a daughter Ellen born 1865. On the 1860 census for Jackson County, Henry is missing from the household of his wife Anna Green and 5 daughters. ANY HELP OR ADVICE ON THIS MESS will be much appreciated. Please feel free to email me off list. Barbara
