    1. RE: [GREEN] Book on Greene family of Rhode island by SEARS
    2. Laura Greene
    3. The book is by Louise Clarke, based on the work of George Sears Greene, a descendant of the John the Surgeon Greene line of RI. A man named John Jahnke has kindly entered most of this book into a gedcom, downloadable for AOL members in their genealogy section. Here is the description of his text file from several years ago: ========= Descendants of John Greene the Surgeon of Warwick, R.I. THE GREENE'S OF WARWICK (R.I.) UPDATE #3 This text is taken PRIMARILY from Gen G.S. Greene's Genealogy published by The Nickerbocker Press in 1903. The work was compiled by Louise Brownell Clarke from the notes and genealogical collections of Gen. Greene. The work was commisioned by G.S. Greene, Jr. and Frances V. Greene in 1902. This text has all the DESCENDANT information of that text through the sixth generation, generations prior to the Immigrant Ancestor John Greene, the Surgeon born in Gillinghamshire, England abt. 1590 were outlined in The Greene's of R.I Update #2 previously uploaded to AOL. ============= Laura Greene San Diego, CA > -----Original Message----- > From: Sharilyn Whitaker [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Friday, October 05, 2001 9:42 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [GREEN] Book on Greene family of Rhode island by SEARS > > > Recently a Green lister was kind enough to respond to my > postings regarding the question of whether Christopher Green of > Fiskill, Dutchess County, New York, who appears in a 1732 > baptism at Fishkill Dutch Reformed Church with "Elizabeth van > Denmark", or in another version of these Fishkill records, > "Elizabeth DerMark" as the child's mother, was the same man as > Christopher Greene of Rhode Island, frequently shown with wife > "Elizabeth Denmark". > > This lister quoted several passages to the effect that a Greene > author by the name of SEARS, who published a book in 1903, was > of the opinion that Christopher Greene indeed married a woman by > the name of Elizabeth Denmark, but died without issue, based on > the fact that, while Christopher was the eldest of his wealthy > father's issue, the next son in line, Daniel, inherited, and > that in the 1757 will of Job Greene, Christopher's father, a > silver cup that "had belonged to Christopher" was left to > somebody else. > > I am trying to locate that book.
