My great grandfather Nicholas GREEN came from Germany.Where he was born in October 1851/1852. The only clue I have to his place of birth is a statement that a very old cousin made about the north western part of Germany and that he was naturalized at a young age, ( I do not know where). His father's name was Nicoli and his mother's was Maria. He was a Roman Catholic and left Germany for religious reasons. He married Catherine ROCKER at St. Pius Roman Catholic church in Cohocton, Steuben County, NY on Feb. 6, 1871. She was 14 years old and married so young because her father died in the civil war, her mother had quite a few other children to provide for. He was very poor all his life and only did farm labor.
