I believe his father could have been William C., born abt 1791, NY his wife could have been Polly. My Gilbert Thomas moved to Fulton Co., IL abt. 1839, along with at least three adult males being William C. born abt. 1791, NY, Rueben C., born abt. 1816, NY and Zalem born abt. 1818 NY. My Gilbert T. married 1st wife unknown, had three children: Ellen G., born 1837 NY, Frances born abt 1839 IL and Hiram born 1840, IL. Gilbert T. married 2nd wife Eliza Jane McKinley May 20 Aug 1848 Fulton Co., IL., they had eleven children: Harrison O. born abt. 1849 IL, Westley born abt. 1850 IL, Douglas born 1854 IL, William born 1856 IL, John G. born 18 Oct 1858 McDonough Co., IL, Estella born 22 DEC 1860 McDonough Co., IL, Charles H. born 19 Jul 1863 McDonough Co., IL, George L. born abt. 1865 IL, Edward born abt. 1867 IL, Louis V. born abt. 1870 KS and Fleetus. My line continues with Charles Henry Green, but you can see this family started in NY>IL abt 1839>KS Butler Co. abt 1869. I need some help trying to locate this family in NY.
