I have lots of info about Missouri births & deaths, but nothing before that time. Any info will be appreciated. Louise
Fellow Green/Greene researchers, With all of this activity on the list, I will again post my mystery ancestor. My g-grandfather, Gilbert Greene was likely born in Hawkins County, TN, on 12 February 1824. He died 23 July 1894 in Piatt County, Illinois. In 1844, he married Martha Ann Ramsey in Scott County, Kentucky. Some researchers have compiled the following list of his siblings. As far as I know, only one has been verified. That is Ruth Greene. The others are: Amzie, Gulford, Henderson, Mandy, Martha, and William. Any help on this family will be appreciated. Darrell Blue Yakima, WA

This is the first time I have posted to the list. I have received postings on the list for a long time now and haven't seen any mention to my family so I thought I would post. Please help if you can. I have an Elizabeth Green who was married to Michael Cullen. They lived in southern Wisconsin during the time of the Civil war. Michael fought in the Civil war. They had several children together. One of their children was Mary Jane Cullen. This is all I know about them. Does this sound familiar to anyone??? Thank you in advance for any and all responses. I'll add to the fun! I have been researching John B. GREEN who was born in NJ about 1844. He married Charlotte E PALMER 9 Oct 1872 in Homer, MI and died 1897 in MI. I have located him in the 1880 census but no sure finds prior to that. They had at least four sons and possibly two more: Claude, Lloyd, Clayton, John, Guy?, and Duwayne? I would really like to find out more about him, including his parents. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Juli
My thoughts are: Maybe "Rachel" was not actually married to Jeramiah. Maybe the surname "Green" was merely assumed in her case, when she approved the apprenticeship of the boy, Meshack. Maybe Rachel is Meshack's sister or aunt. ... it may be worth considering other relationships, of which there are quite a few possibilities. Not all "family" clusters were in fact blood relations and some "marriages", I suppose, were not too official. Annette

STILL TRYING TO KNOCK DOWN MY BRICK WALL LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON, JEREMIAH GREEN Married RACHEL from Hunterden Co. NJ Son: MESHACK GREEN b. abt 1779 in Surry Co. Could this be the second wife of the Jeremiah GREEN who married Joanna Hannah HUNT? I have this note for him. Per Redell T. Reed, Jeremiah and Joanna Green went to Jersey Settlement, Rowan County, North Carolina. It's interesting that both Jeremiah GREENs went to North Carolia. Are there any searching this line of Green that migrated to Harrison County, Indiana: Charles Westley Green married Elizabeth Trobaugh Sarah Green Married Caleb Green (no relation) Elizabeth Green Married 1- Hamilton Rainbolt who died at Cumberl;and Gap. Married 2- Elias Rowe. Will exchange info. Joy Mattli
I have two lines, Green and Greene. The first starts with John Green, born 1809 somewhere in North Carolina, moved to Georgia, died 1883 in Bulloch County, GA. Married to Nancy Collins. The second starts with John Greene, born 1856 in Metter, GA, died there in 1825. Married to Sarah Jane Williams of Candler County, GA. I have extensive information on the descendants of these lines, too much to list here. I would be happy to hear from anyone who might recognize these lines.
Cock Co TN mm. Nancy Green who died in Platte at the age of 101 in 1882 is said to the mother of Levi Green b 1832 who married Nancy Fugate in Weston, Platte Co. TN. Ezekiel Fugate who is said to come from Cock co. TN. Ezekiel is also said to be born in 1794, Jefferson Co. TN but can found in Cock Co. TN in 1830 Nancy would have been born 1781/2. She could be Mary/Nancy who was living with Elisha and Malinda Green 1850 Census. (Melinda was a Green before marriage) So is Mary/Nancy her mother? Or is Mary/Nancy be Elisha and John mother. This would make Levi one the 11 siblings I looking for. Wonder If the Fugate family knew the Green family in Cock Co. TN? Charlie, If so could Jeremiah Green be a missing brother? www.geocities.com/janet_ariciu I do not have Levi Green on my webpage but to have copy of the "Annals of Platte County, Missouri" It does not tell who Nancy/Mary husband was and only names two sons William and Levi who both marry Fugate ladies. Now with Nancy/Mary being born in 1782 she should or could have had more children. Hello Beth, Can't find her Birth cert. Think she was born in South Africa [if I've found the right family]. To check this out - I've sent for her Sisters Marriage cert, which I'm now waiting for! Hope I'll find 'Auntie Blossom' was born in the UK - then I'll send for her Birth cert. This hopefully will give me the information I need. At least genealogy has taught me to be patient [well sort of]!! Thanks so much for your suggestions. Christine.
I am descended from Robert Green (1695-1748) from England who married Eleanor Dunn from Scotland. They settled in Orange County - later Culpepper County - Virginia. They had seven sons all of whom were reported to be over six feet tall and all had red had. They are known as the RED GREENS. Jim Smith
Wow ! I've subscribed to this site for 2 or 3 years and have never seen this much action in one day ! I think all male Greens in the mid 18th century had to be named William and like most of you who are searching, I'm looking for one as well. Mine married Judith Ann Gordon in Campbell Co., Virginia, on Feb 6, 1792, and they had at least 2 sons, Giles, b.1799 or 1800, and Enoch, b.1812. The brothers married Chandler sisters. Giles married Catherine (Katy) Chandler in 1817 or 1818 and Enoch married Elizabeth in 1831. Both brothers owned land in Cabell County, Virginia (now West Va.), and eventually settled in the Big Sandy Valley of Kentucky. I am a direct descendent of Giles, and have a fairly complete descendancy chart of his family. According to census records, Giles father William, was born in England, which at that time could have meant what is now, Ireland or Scotland. William's birthplace and parents are my "stonewall". Can anyone help me tear down that wall ? Earl Green
