    3. I am also looking for GREENS. Following is the information I have. Please let me know if any of this rings any bells. I have found no concrete connections for Francis, John L., Orson or George Green but there are either many coincidences or there are some connections here somewhere. My great grandfather was Francis C. Green. Francis C. GREEN, born in England, I believe ca. 1829. That's all I know about his origin. Francis is in the 1850 census in Newark NJ, single, occupation trimmer. Francis married Catherine E. Traver on June 14, 1855 in NYC. Catherine was born and raised in Poughkeepsie. Catherine's parents were born and lived their lives in Dutchess Co. NY Two children were born to this marriage: Cora, b. April 4, 1856 and Charles F., born 1859, both b. in NY. In 1862, Francis enlisted in the 150th NY Infantry from Poughkeepsie. He mustered out on June 8, 1865 in Washington DC. His many letters home went to Poughkeepsie. In 1870 census the whole family is enumerated at Fishkill, Dutchess Co. NY. The 1880 census lists Francis, Catherine and Charles in Plainfield NJ. Francis is a carriage trimmer, his lifetime occupation. Charles is living at home and working as a carriage smith. Cora is married and gone. In 1879-1891 Francis is listed in the Plainfield NJ city directories, partner in a business with one Orson Green. The 1880 census says Orson is a furniture merchant, single, age 40, born in NY, parents b. NY. He is boarding with a family named Burke, who are from Ireland. Francis died in NYC on June 11, 1887. He is buried in Stamford CT Charles moved to Norwalk CT in about 1884 or 5. He lived there until his death in 1927. He was a carriage smith, blacksmith and foundry worker. The 1910 Norwalk says: Charles F. Green, age 50, married 11 yrs., second marriage Charlotte A. Green, age 41, wife, first marriage, 2 children born to this mother, 2 still living, b. CT, parents b. Ire. Charlotte D. Green, daughter, age 19 Pauline K. Green, daughter, age 16 Dorothy K. Green, daughter, age 9 Willa A. Green, daughter, age 3 All these daughters are listed as born in CT, fa. b. NY, mo. b. CT. I have no record of another marriage for Charles, no record for mother of the oldest two daughters and no married names for any of these daughters. John L. Green enlisted in the 150th NY Infantry with Francis. John was discharged with Francis too. John married Josephine RUSSELL in Fort Plain NY on November 23, 1854. Both said from Rhinebeck NY. Mary Jane Green, daughter, was born July 23, 1854. married name BRIELL Florence Linden Green was born December 28, 1855, died September 21, 1882. Married name BRIDGEMAN. John died in Queens, Astoria, NY on March 24, 1877, age ca. 45. He is buried in Rhinebeck NY. Josephine died May 11, 1922, Astoria NY. John was born in the US, both parents were both born in Ireland per his death certificate. John was orphaned at a young age and raised by a guardian, a Mr. Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a stockholder in the "people's Line of Steamers", NY (City, I believe) John lived in NJ, Jersey City in 1866 and 7. George Green enlisted in the 150th NY Infantry from Poughkeepsie on August 26, 1864, age 22. He mustered out with Francis and John L. I find a George Green in Plainfield NJ when Francis is, working as a waiter. I find George Green again in Norwalk CT in 1925. I don't know if these are all the same George. I have not been able to find much for George yet. I am open to any suggestions or connections. Thank you. Loreen Wells loreenwl@open.org

    1. George William Green in Cleveland, OH
    2. Kelly Moran
    3. Hello. Hoping someone might be able to help. I'm looking for more information on my great-grandfather. Here's what I know: George William GREEN, born approx. 1890 in Ohio (perhaps Cleveland) Mother's name was Alice (middle initial M), who was born in Indiana. Father might be John. George had two younger sisters, Hazel G. Green and Flossie V. Green. Also supposedly had some step-siblings from his father's second marriage. George's mother re-married James J. MCCARTHY sometime after 1910. George married Katherine J. SIRL in approx. 1910. They were listed in the 1910 census, living with George's mother and sisters, and their newborn son GEORGE W. GREEN, in Cleveland OH. My grandfather was born in 1912 (Raymond F. GREEN) in Cleveland, and George and Katherine divorced shortly thereafter. I know that George remarried, and I believe I've found him in the 1920 census, living with his 2nd wife's family - last name BARANSKY (also in Cleveland, OH). If this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know! 3. I hope someone can help me. I have been searching for info for Christopher B Green for a long time. I was given info that I believe was obtained in the 1990's from an elderly lady from Texas named Margaret Green that says Christopher Columbus Green of the Green-Aker line is the Chris B Green who was married to Elizabeth Scott in 1858 in Jefferson Co Fl but the supplier of this info does not have any documentation. None of my documentation uses the name Columbus. There was a Columbus Green (and twin brother Franklin) age 16 in, I think, Benton Co Al 1850 census living with Margaret Green, possibly widow of Joseph Nathaniel Green of the Green/Aker line but I can't find anything that might prove or disprove the connection to my Chris B Green. Does anyone have any info on the Columbus and/or Franklin Green who were in Alabama in 1850 or Christopher B Green born in SC married in Florida and died in Brooks Co Ga? Thank you for any ideas you might have. Deb

Hello Cousins Green, I research the Kelly-Lee-Little Families from NC to AL, Of course that is not all I do, This I don't know if it has been posted before as I am fairly new to the list This is what I have on the LEE-Green Connection in Anson, My Lee and Kelly as well have connections to Edgecombe, Orange, Wake, as do many families there to AL. abt 1820 and bef in the early settlement of the Tombigbee River, Al. So, I am wondering if yall can help me back this up, from Gideon Green as well as any info forward, this may help some of you in the MS, Al early counities connect. Also, I would like to invite you to post comments, queries at www.dnaconsulting.ws We are following southern families of out interest and would like to have the Green Dna Project linked to our URL and recriprocating as well. That will give you more presence on your project, and there is lots to learn re interpreting the data on links from the website Thank you all dJ Gideon GREEN Wife m Elizabeth Anderson bd. abt 1755, Anson, NC dd. 15 Apr 1799, Anson, NC | Jesse GREEN | bd. 1786, Anson, NC | dd. 1845, Perry County, AL Jemima LEE of Anson, Dau of Richard Lee of ANSON, NC my Lines and Martha Patsy Litle | | Jesse GREEN Jr | | bd. 1820, Perry COunty, AL | | dd. 1855, Fayette County, TX | | Elizabeth "Betsy" GREEN | | bd. 1814, Anson, NC | | dd. 3. List members, Since there has been all this interest in the Green list, I would invite male Green(e)s to participate in the YDNA Green project in connection with Family Tree DNA. I case you are not familiar with this project, we are trying to match YDNA with other Green males to determine kinship. Since the YDNA is passed down from father to son without change, you can establish a long line of kinship. One of the side benefits is that you are able to determine your haplogroup or deep roots. You can determine your ethnic roots back many generations. Greens are mostly from the British Isles, therefore they tend to be either Norse, Celtic, or Anglo-Saxon. There are other groups such as middle eastern origin. This group came from the middle east about 10,000 years ago to Europe and brought farming and agriculture to Europe. We need more Green males in the data base, so if you are interested go to the web address below: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=H10429&special=True We get a reduced price from Family Tree DNA. The test is a swab of the inside of the cheek, no blood drawn! Mike Greene Florida PS: My earliest know Green ancestor is Malichi Green of Martin County NC, b 1790 in NC and died in 1878 in Martin Co. NC. His father may have been Abraham Green of NC b. in Va.
