Hi all, I lost my email regarding the Green family which I had been sent. I am new with this AOL setup, and no doubt caused my own problems. Someone sent me an Email regarding a Henry Green who married a Stone. Thank you for the information but I lost your and the other addresses. I went into the Pittsylvania County, VA tax lists which I remembered had a Henry Green and other Greens and Henry lived next door to a Stone family. Further on down the list is a William Green and a Lewis Green who appear to be the Greens who came into Montgomery County, NC. That Wiliam Green is said to have married a Sarah (Stone), and his grandson did use the name Stone for child. Wm was born circa 1743, and had a brother David Green who left RW pension records which tell us that he came into Montgomery to be near his brothers. Wm may have inherited the whole of his fathers estate as he had more wealt than Lewis, and David. Or he became wealthier early on. At any rate Wm Greens family has been traced to Mecklenburg County, VA by a researcher named Karen, (Karen are you on the list ?), and a Wm Green an older one lives on the Nottaway River adjacent to a Robert Bolling earlier (Cavaliers and Pioneers) and the family here used the Bowling or Bolling Green. Perhaps a connection but unproven if it is, to my knowledge. A Louis Green lived earlier in Prince George County and is mentioned in Bristol Parish. Has anyone connected these families? Wm Greens family here also used the name Wincy or Winnie (often a name for Wynne surname) and Robertson and Anderson. How did he come by the use of the Robertson surname for a child, and also Anderson for a name which also was a surname. Thanks for the help and I'll try to hang on my msgs better. Iam
Looking for information on a male (not sure of first name possibly James) Green born 1858 in Mississippi, married Latitia Ray also from Mississippi and moving to Sabine parish, Louisiana. This info according to death certificate of a daughter-Camiller Green Carter (my maternal great grandmother). Thanks for any help. Mickey --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Has anyone come across a Bethia Green? She was born in Indiana (Parke County in believe). Passed down through the family says she was Cherokee Indian although I have no proof. Her daughter and son-in-law were on the Chickasaw Indian Reservation in Oklahoma in the 1910 census. Bethia married 1st ? Dunaway and had one child from this marriage Louisa "Jane" who married Jefferson Eddy. Bethia married 2nd Charles Matney either in Shelby Co., IL or Douglas Co., KS abt 1855. Mariah Matney married Reuben Eddy in Douglas Co., NE in 1885. Reuben Eddy and Jefferson Eddy were brothers. Looking for the birth of Bethia, her sibling and parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ... Troy Sniff

Don't know if this will help very much on your search for info on Hugh Green, but here's what my files indicate. I have an Elijah Green(e)(b. 11/4/1800; d. 7/15/1882; buried in the McBride Cemetery, Silverstone, Watauga Co., NC). Elijah was the son of John "Moccasin" Green(e) & Elizabeth Coffey. My records do not indicate a brother named Joseph for Elijah. Also all the records I have seen do not place any Green(e) families in Tennessee prior to approximately 1810. All records I have seen indicate that the Green(e)s migrated from Tennessee to Georgia. You show Joseph as being born in Georgia in 1790 and then Elijah born in Tennessee in 1800. This would seem to indicate a migration from Georgia to Tennessee. Not impossible, but I have seen nothing to indicate this reverse migration. Would be glad to search files further if you would like more info. Ronnie Greene
Does anyone have a connection to Godfrey Green, wife was Mary. In 1880 he was 54, they were living in Gregg, Aiken County, SC. Their children were Isabella, Catherine, Ella, George and William (F.). Also living there was William's wife Emma (Emmaline Key). Thank you very much Tammy Lynn Collard
Hello Greens, I see so much activity with the Greens I need to ask my questions. My great-grandparents were Hugh and Margaret Green who lived in Beat No. 5 in Shelby County, Alabama, from about 1853 until their death in 1883 and 1894. Hugh was the son of either Elijah Green who born in 1800 in TN and his wife or the son of Elijah's brother Joseph Green who was born in 1790 in Georgia and his wife Mary. Both Elijah and Joseph arrived in Shelby County before 1850. Does anyone have any information on these families for me. Thanks. Terry tocnroc@aol.com
I am looking for links of Susan (etta) Everett to the Green family. She was born circa 1860-1880 and died in Iowa.

Hello All, Richmond Co. Will Book # 4, pg. 131 George Green, will 9 Jun 1716, 2 Sep 1719 wife Elizabeth: sons John *, Thomas, George, Jozef, William, Samuel, Daniel, Isaac to have all land, and Robert, Daus. Elizabeth and Grace: no executor, witnesses: Naell Mcormick, William Tippett. Inventory; 6 Apr 1720. MARRIAGES OF RICHMOND CO. VA 1668-1853 Green, George married by 7 March 1699/1700 Elizabeth Clapman (Clapham), one of the two daughters of William and Mary (Thatcher) Clapham. *John Green and Abigail Tippett married Aug 1 1714; groom was the eldest son of George Green (d. 1719); bride was the dtr of Thos. Tippett (d.1710), John and Abigail Tippett Green moved to Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co, VA (Richmond Co will book 3:27, Will Book 4:131, King George Co Deed Book 1:77, Deed Book 3:40-44, Deed Book 4:447: Overwharton Parish register 43-44 Willis:53 abstracted from "Married Well and Often- Marriages of the Northern Neck of Virginia 1649-1800" by Robert Kirk Headley, Jr. George Green died testate in 1719. He bequeathed one shilling to his son Robert Green and his plantation of 886 acres which fell into King George Co.,VA in 1721, equally to his other children, viz: John, Thomas, George, Joseph, William, Samuel, Isaac, Elizabeth and Grace Green. John and Abigall (Tippett) Green moved to Overwharton Parish, Stafford Co.,VA "King George Co, Virginia Will Book A-1 1721-1752" by George Harrison Sanford King, a Daniel Green and an Isaac Green and a Thomas Knighton are listed as having voted in an Election for Burgess 1752 there is a long note to this effect after the list of voters: "Several of the men voting in the 1752 election were not residents of King George County, however, they were present at the courthouse of that county on the appointed day and it appears that the 3 major candidates made considerable effort among these absentee landlords to have them present.....". I can find no other reference to Isaac Green or Daniel Green in this book. However, one of my Isaac Green's daughters, Sarah Ann is said to have married Eli Norman who was from Stafford Co, VA, migrated with his father Thomas to Surry Co, NC and then to SC. +My Daniel Green b@ 1719-1720 came from Stafford Co,VA (Overwharton Parish) to Halifax Co, NC about 1766, married Sarah Foxworthy in 1750 in Stafford Co, VA. Eldest son named George, other son named Phillip. Dtrs: Elizabeth and Mary. +Thomas Knighton came from Caroline Co, VA to SC and was one of the 3 men who inventoried my Isaac Green's estate in St. Mark's Parish, SC in 1772. Another of those men was John James who was also from Caroline Co, VA and the 3rd, James Barwick appears to have some to SC from Bladen/Anson Co areas of NC. The 2 men who were witnesses to Isaac Green's will written in Craven Co, SC in 1769 were Andrew Hilton and Bartlett Henson- they also seem to have possibly come to SC by way of Anson/Bladen Co, NC areas. I am told that Bartlett Henson is originally from Hanover/Louisa Co, VA areas. Note: There was also an established Henson family in early Stafford Co, VA +Isaac Green may have been from Stafford ...have not been able to find solid proof either way. The will's of the Green's listed in this King George book do not mention any Isaac or Daniel. My Isaac Green's sons were George, Robert, John and Moses and daughter, Sarah Ann Norman, Alse Lansdale, and Priscilla Ross (wife of Reuben Ross, they were probably married in Halifax or Edgecombe Co area, NC about 1759/1760). Isaac Green died before May 1772 in St. Mark's Parish of what was then Craven Co, SC. Sometime before 1771, Reuben and Priscilla (Green) Ross moved to what is now Clarendon Co, SC. Anyone else working on these lines? Audrey Orlando, FL
Hi, I'm still looking for info on my great great grandfather, John Layton Green, son of William and Minerva McCumber Green. John was born 23Jul1827 in Royalton, Niagara County, NY and married Electa Flora Simons 8Dec1845 in Royalton. Their children were: Henry, Sofia, Cecelia (my great grandmother), Adah, Frank and Clara. Some info says they went to Iowa where John left her. Electa married George Hedglin 28Feb1869. Does this mean John died or were they divorced? I can't find any info. I don't know where or when John died. Any help will be much appreciated. I'm willing to share any documents and pictures that I have. By the way, John's cousin was Belva Lockwood, who was the first woman to run for president. Ethel Flannery grandmaelf@juno.com
I'm looking for any information on who might have been the parents of James B. ("J. B.") GREEN, b. 23 Aug 1842 in (unknown county) TN. He married Margaret T. SUDBURY on 4 Sep 1873 in Weakly Co., TN, and they had 2 children - William Edgar GREEN, b. 3 June 1874 in TN, and Ottie Bell May GREEN b. 25 May 1877 also in TN. They were residing in Nashville, Davidson Co., TN for the 1880 census where James was listed as being blind. He died 17 May 1887. The only reason I have [presumably?] solid dates for him is that his information was included in the Sudbury family Bible, a copy of which found its way into my hands a couple of years ago (his daughter, Ottie Belle was my ggrandmother). Family "legend" says there was indian blood - and my best guess is that if it did exist, it is most likely in the Green line rather than the Sudbury. If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, I'd be interested to hear about it. I'm particularly interested in knowing if the son, William Edgar GREEN survived/married/had descendants, etc, as no death info for him was included in the Bible record - yet no further info implying he might have lived longer was included either.
