I'm looking for any DNA information on any Green line. Two lines are my greatest interest. The William and Johanna Reeder Green line and The Shadrack and Martha Jones Green line. Bob
I am looking for information on Elizabeth Green. She married Joshua Caudle 1790 s in NC or TN. Paul
Hi! I just recently returned from a trip to Kentucky (Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, Johnson, Lawrence and Morgan counties) to visit family. While there, with help from Ted Walter, I was able to locate the "James Green Cemetery" and the "Jiles Green Cemetery"in Johnson County. Helen Tackett of Kingsville, Ohio accompanied us. With the help of cousins Ralph Smith Jr., Irene Green Nelson, email correspondent Gail Blevins, and the gentlemen sitting on the porch of a country store (used to be "Gump's", not sure of name of store now.), I was also able to find and visit the "Thomas Green Cemetery" and the "Harman Green Cemetery" in Lawrence County. The "Jiles Green Cemetery" is in poor shape with all the stones either missing, or fallen and broken. It did contain the fallen, broken stone of "Jiles Green" and the fallen, unbroken stone of "Nancy the wife of Jiles Green, born June 18, 179_, died Jan 18, 1845" as indicated by Ted and his mother Thelma Chandler Walter in 1996. This gravestone inscription, along with the death certificates of five of their children has caused me to doubt that the first wife of Jiles (Giles) Green was named "Catherine Katie" Chandler. Instead, the records indicate that her name was "NANCY CHANDLER". If you have questions or would like more data on any of this, please write to me. Frankie Perry
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about a William Green who was a surveyor in Lowndes Co., GA in 1819. He was from Irwin Co. but I would like to know more about him. Where he was from or if he had family. Selma

http://www.geocities.com/janet_ariciu/Green.html John Green II born 14 Feb 1851 d 3 Apr 1937. In 1936, at the age of 86 John Green sat down and told his family story to his grand-daughter Margaret Leolia Green. Leolia wrote what her grandfather said and typed it up. She recopied it and pass it out among the family. My Grandfather John Green SR, married a Tipton and moved from (Georgia???) to near Lexington, LaFayette Co. MO. I think they came from Eastern Tennessee. May be near Georgia area or maybe their parents came from Georgia. But John or Elisha or Sarah were from Eastern Tennessee. There were eleven (11) brothers and a sister, Sarah Green. John SR and a brother Elias (Elisha) Green, settled in Platte Co. MO., far from Fort Leavenworth. Elias (Elisha) Green married Lindy (Melinda) Green. Linday maiden was Green but they were not related. The " Annals of Platte County, Missouri" mention the following about Elisha Green. Elisha Green b East Tennessee on May 15, 1801; died Jan 9,1855. Malinda m'd Elisha before 1821. I was told be John(2) that they were married in GA. Malinda could have be born in Henrico Co. Hi all -- It¹s been a while since I posted anything. Still looking for clues on the origin of my Green line, dead ending in rural western North Carolina. Father and son, both named Shadrach, in public records in Rutherford County and surrounding areas from Revolutionary period through 1840¹s. Son was born 1766-1774, father presumably a generation earlier and an adult during the Rev. war. They seem to have been backwoods Baptist homesteaders. No other clues on where they may have come from. Emily Jackson
Reference check: That's strange. I sent this message 11-11 but I never got it. Sorry if everyone else did and this is just a repeat. I do know that list 5 was down for several days. Anyway here it is. Is there anyone on this list who knows of a Hurlbert-Green(e) connection from the 1800s? I have a small group in Union Co/Laurens Co South Carolina as Greens and Duval Co/St Johns Co Florida as Hurlberts in the early 1900s? Daniel Paul, Henry Baker, Joseph, James, William (went to TN). There is a Wingate probably involved. And a female Neighbor/Nabor. May have originated in Connecticut. Thank you very much Tammy Lynn Collard
Checking to see if this list(5) is back up?

In a folder at the Laurens County, SC library I found some old communications dated 1966 between a Mrs. James W. Wolcott (Patricia Green Wolcott) of Kentucky and a Jennie V. Culbertson of Laurens. A brief paraphrase: Mrs. Wolcott states that her Greens went to Warren Co. Tenn. Her Great Great Grandfather was Elias H. Green (born 1814), who was living next door to a David Green. David was Elias' father, uncle or grandfather. Inez Green Slice of Columbia and Eddie Marie Green Howerton were great grandchildren to Elias H. Ms. Culbertson sent Mrs. Wolcott info on Rev David Green who was a charter member of Poplar Springs, and David was living near the church in 1785. In 1804 Bro. Green is received as Poplars pastor, Bethel Assn. Prior member of Turkey Creek. This David Green and his wife were associated with Chechister Matthew (of Turkey Creek) who moved west and it is believed that when Bro and Sister Green requested letter of dismission in Oct 1804, they also moved west. Can anyone connect any dots here? Thank you very much, Tammy Lynn Collard

Hi Gregory, I can help you a little. General Nathanael Greene's mother was Mary Mott, the second of three wives of Rev. Nathanael Greene. I show that Mary Cook, born about 1644, married Samuel Greene of Malden, Mass. Samuel Green was the son of Governor Thomas Green. I have three Enflied Green's in my computer, but none of them seem to be yours. Hope this helps in some way. This was in Today's Ancestry Daily News which I felt was of importance to everyone doing research. I would urge everyone to contact their Congressman immediately to stop this bill from restricting our access to these vital documents. Feel free to pass this along to anyone else interested in this. Deloris Williams Immediate Action Requested Legislation in Congress Seeks to Restrict Access to Birth Records; FGS Recommends Writing to Your Congressional Representatives The U.S. House of Representatives is considering a bill, House Resolution 10 (H.R. 10), which seeks to restrict access to birth certificates. This bill, which purpose is to respond to the threat of terrorism, is on a fast track to passage and has been voted on by several committees already. Your help is needed now. David Rencher, Chairman of the Record Access and Preservation Committee, a joint committee of the National Genealogical Society and Federation of Genealogical Societies, has sent a letter to the bill's sponsor, Congressman Dennis Hastert, recommending an amendment to the bill as follows: "However, nothing in this Chapter 2 shall be construed to require a State to change its law with respect to public access to (A) non-certified copies of birth certificates, or to (B) birth certificates or birth records once a period of 100 years has elapsed from the date of creation of the certificate or record." A copy of the letter is available on the FGS site at www.fgs.org/rpa/formalactions.htm. To view this bill, go to http://thomas.loc.gov. Enter HR 10 in the search box for "Bill Number." Action Is Needed Now Because this bill is moving toward passage so quickly, it is urged that the genealogical community take action immediately and let their representatives know that they are in support of David Rencher's amendment and the FGS position in this important matter. To find your state representative's contact information, go to www.house.gov/writerep/. How Should I Word My Letter? While you should word the letter in any way that is comfortable for you, it is recommended that you include the following as a portion of the letter: "While I support the intention to increase security to protect the U.S. from terrorists and those who wish to improperly take U.S. identities, I am concerned that those researching their family's history continue to have access to non-certified birth records. Therefore, in order to support HR-10 I ask that you amend HR-10 Section 3063(d)(2) by adding the following wording to the existing paragraph: 'However, nothing in this Chapter 2 shall be construed to require a State to change its law with respect to public access to (A) non-certified copies of birth certificates or to (B) birth certificates or birth records once a period of 100 years has elapsed from the date of creation of the certificate or record.' I believe that this additional language is imperative so that the states do not react by restricting all certificates to comply with the law, rather than dealing with certified as opposed to non-certified birth certificates. This proposed amendatory language would remind them that they can and should be treated differently." --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
