Nancy Green, or Nicy (Nicey) as she listed was born in North Carolina in1811. She may have been the daughter of Gideon Green, Jr. b. 1784, NC, and he was the son of Gideon Green Sr. b. 1755, Anson Co. NC. His wife was Martha Elizabeth Anderson. She married Jackson Henry Frederick about 1830 in Marion County, Alabama (?). She died in Marion County, Alabama (or d. 1898 Tishomingo Co. MS?). Any assistance with primary or secondary documentation of these lines greatly appreciated. Always happy to swap files. Walt
Hello, I am researching my paternal grandmother's family. I know that my great, great-grandparents were Thomas Bowers of Ireland and Isabella Green(e) of England. I know that Isabella was born approximately 1877 in England, possibly in Durham. Thomas and Isabella had five children: Orin (my great-grandfather), Maxine, Florence, William, and Margaret. I believe that Thomas and Isabella met in the US and married, but that's a guess. They both died in Chester, WV. Does anyone have any additional information? Thanks, Jeana Harrison

Does anyone have a transcript/abstract/copy of a will, Bible record, marriage bond(s) for: Ornan Bradley WHATLEY, Sr. b. 8 Mar or May 1751, Bute Co, NC d. 1 Dec 1798 Oglethorpe Co. Because of the names of Tabitha's parents, it would stand to reason that her children by Ornan Whatley would be: 1) WYATT b. 1770 . . . her mother's maiden name, Wilkes Co., GA 2) Tabitha . . . her name! (NOTE: 2nd wife Judith surely wouldn't have named a daughter for Ornan's FIRST wife!) 3) Wilson b. 21 Feb 1775, Wilkes Co., GA 4) Elizabeth b. 1779 according to 1830 GA Census NOTE: I believe that THIS is the Elizabeth Whatley who md. Edmund Carlisle and named a son GREEN Whatley Carlisle! (Yet to be proven.) 5) Polly b. 1780 md. Thomas HEARD & named a son, WYATT Thomas Heard 6) BURWELL b. 23 Dec 1781 . . . named for her father Deed showing Ornan Whatley with wife Judah in 1785 Ornan Whatley's children by Judah/Judith Thornton: 1) Ornan Bradley, Jr. b. 1785 2) Rebecca b. 15 Aug 1787 NOTE: Given names Burwell, Wyatt, Green and Ornan continue through the generations in Whatley and related branches of this family! I have recently determined that I am a direct descendant of John Greene of Quidnesset, R.I. Confirmation came by way of the book, "Descendants of Joseph Greene of Westerly, R.I. including other branches of the Greenes of Quidnesset, or Kingston, R.I., and other lines of Greenes in America." By Frank L. Greene This 500 page book is a wealth of information for genealogists tracking the Green(e) surname or many others for that matter. Has anyone managed to transcribe this data into a Gedcom file or some other family tree database? I began doing so a few days ago and quickly realized what a gargantuan task I had begun. Here is my periodic GREEN query again: I am looking for the parents of Margaret Ann GREEN, b 15 May 1829 in Fleming Co, KY. She m Wilson McDonald DARNALL, 1844 in IN. He had previously lived in Fleming Co. According to 1830 and 1840 censuses of Fleming Co, the Morton and Fielding Green households each included a female in the right age group to have been Margaret Ann. Does anyone know the names of Morton's and/or Fielding's (probably 1778-1855) children? Thank you! If anyone can help with her parents and siblings I would be very grateful, and have lots of ALLEY info to share. Thanks, Lola
Ken, I am not related to your line, and have only compiled information about them, so you will need to confirm the accuracy of my information, but I show the parents of the Benjamin Greene who married Freelove Tillinghast to have been Rev. Nathanael Greene and one of his three wives, Phebe Greene. He was the father of Gen. Nathanael Greene. I show the parents of Freelove Tillinghast to have been Joseph Tillinghast and his wife Freelove Stafford. The John Green and his wife Mary Allen you mention are not show as the parents of this Benjamin Greene, and this John Green is show as the son of James Green and his wife Elizabeth Anthony. This James Greene is shown as the son of Surgeon John Greene. These lines have been well researched many years ago, and you can located much data on the internet or from book written some time back. I descend from a William Green born February 6, 1762 in Prince Edward County, Virginia, who married Keziah Stroud in Hillsborough, Orange County, North Carolina January 9, 1781, and we have attempted to connect them to the Rhode Island Greene's for many years, but to no avail. from a fifth cousin - "Would you please forward the info below to the GREEN list. I am not a member, but thought it might help another Meshack GREEN researcher." **************************************************** In viewing the microfilm of the ledgers which documented widow's pensions. Though not all widows appear to have been listed in these records, I did locate Susannah GREEN in the Knoxville office ledger. FHL#1319403 US Dept of Treasury Widow's Pensions Vo. V, page 438 Susannah GREEN, widow of Meshack, shown as restored to pension roll in 1853, paid through March 1867. Based on this entry, Susannah probably died very soon after this date since her pension was not paid after this date. I have no further information on her based on this ledger entry. Just wish they had listed her date of death, which other entries did document! HTH!
