Hi, Audrey Nope, not working on George as of yet, but I'm trying to sort out some of the early Greens, impossible as that seems. Does anyone have any information on the ancestry or marriage of Lewis Green, b. c1800, who was found married to wife Lucy in the 1850 Rutherford Co. census? He's living right beside Nancy Lovelace in the midst of several Green families in Sandy Run District. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 3. Greg, I have been searching for a Lewis Green, the father of Marion Green (b.1847 in MO). Census records show that Marion's father was born in NC consistently. His mother's records waver between NC and Tenn--leaving me thinking along with somebody else that possibly he didn't move and she didn't either, that she was from the area of NC that became Tenn. Since Marion was b in MO in 1847, all likelihood Marion's father wouldn't be in NC in 1850--but possibly his grandfather could? If they followed the common pattern of naming children earlier names of the family then this could be one of my ancestors. Please let me know if you find children for him and Lucy. I have an aunt named Nancy Pearl so that Nancy name came from somewhere! I'm sorry I can't provide any background for you since the only info I have on Marion's father are from Marion's records: death certificate, marriage bond, etc. I saw those few connections and grasped at the strings! Thanks for anything you might provide. I am related to the Lewis Green whose father was William Green married to Lucy Tyus. If you want to check him out--if you are new to researching Lewis Green?--use Lucy Tyus's name at Rootsweb and go from there. I have been told by David Green, I believe, a long time Green researcher and 'going to publish a GREEN BOOK' this Lewis was called the Revolutionary War Lewis Green. Don't know if David's book is out or not. 3. Dear Listers Looking to fill gaps in the GREEN, BURKE and SLOAN family tree from Liverpool. Have very little information except names: Edith Mary GREEN married George SLOAN in 1915. Edith GREEN had a brother Harold and sister Cissie. Somewhere in there was an Edward GREEN also who married a May. He had three brothers Arthur, Harold and George. He also had a son Edward who married Eileen Clark? Also in there was Frank GREEN, a priest and sisters Joan, Eileen and Phillie. Also Queenie and Willie GREEN who had daughters Vera and Rita. All this information was supplied without any supporting evidence and no dates, and the person who supplied the information is no longer with us. All very vague but If any of this makes sense or rings a bell, please get in touch. A Flack

    3. Greetings fellow researchers, I wonder if anyone can help me. I am looking for information regarding the possibility of a connection with the Rhode Island or New Jersey GREEN/GREENE lines for the line of Gov. Thomas Francis GREENE of Maryland. Also, does anyone have any information regarding Gov. Thomas Francis GREENE's brothers , Robert, b. c. 1608, John, b. c. 1612 or Jeremiah, b. c. 1614? Did they live in America? Robert had come to America, but he went back to England, I don't know if he returned again. Thank you for your time and any assistance you can offer. Fran

    1. Red Greens DNA Testing
    2. I have a perfect DNA match of 37 Markers with a descendant of Robert Green of Culpepper Co., Va., that married Eleanor Dunn. My match and I both have paper trails to our respective ancestors. My ancestor was born 1735-40, but is not listed as one the sons of Robert in his will of 1747-48. Nor, is he listed in the many books and lineages that I have seen. Is it possible that Robert had Brothers, or Uncles that lived in the Virginia Colony that could of Fathered my ancestor? Could Robert's sons been born earlier than recorded, and Fathered a son born in the 1735-40 time frame? Or could my ancestor be an illegitmate son, of Robert or sons. Any help from a knowledgeable Robert Green researcher will be greatly appreciated. James Green

    2. Hello, Fred, Any relation to George Wesley (b. 1881) and Bessie M. (b. <1884> GREEN? I don't know Bessie's maiden name. They lived in Denver, CO in the 1920's and 1930's, coming from Douglas Co., NE. Known children were Edward (1904), Loyd (1906) and Martha (1912). Also, while not in CO that I know of (they may have stayed in Omaha), there are a couple of "Frederick"s in my GREEN line - Frederick Arthur GREEN (b. 1883), wife's name was Mabel, children were Frederick A. (1926) and Ruth E. (1908, Ruth married Lyndon "Dinty" MOORE), who was obviously quite older and may have been Mabel's daughter from a previous marriage. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks, Melinda K. 3. This Rensselaer County is most likely the one in New York between Albany and the VT/MA state line. Quite a number of my Green(e) ancestors settled in Berlin (Hoosick), Rensselaer County, NY or passed through on their migration from Rhode Island to Oswego County, New York. Just for fun I once checked the phone listings for Berlin and found a large number of Green(e)s still living there. 1. My Previous Inquiry about Researcher -- it's quite legit.
    2. Dear Green Researchers: Thanks to all of you who responed to my inquiry about an e-mail request for research help from an unknown person. Within 24 hours, with much help from a number of you, I determined that it was a perfectly legitimate inquiry, and was sent to me on the basis of my name being (properly) associated with a database in which the names of the people she was interested in can be found. I hearby offer my sincere public apologies to Carol Welch, and hope that I didn't cause her embarrassment with my inquiry. I have already begun researching the family of Edwards Whipple Green, and have been able to find birth records for eight of his children with Mary Whitney (which family I am researching) in the Vital Records of Grafton, Worcester, MA. I have also been able to identify his parents as Stephen and Sophie Parker Green, and expect to be able to do further digging on them. He also married a second wife about a year after Mary Whitney Green died in 1851, but I haven't gotten to that family yet. Thanks again to all the nice people from this list who responded to my posting. Sincerely, Allan E. Green

    1. Re: Does anyone know this lady, or is it spam
    2. Maybe it's just me but this doesn't sound suspicious at all. I often get emails from new "cousins" that I've never met and sometimes I use my husband's laptop while we're traveling - he isn't allowed to put our personal email addys on government property. I'm not sure how "mining" is done but I've never gotten Spam as a result of posting any of my family names nor with a genealogy-related Subject - usually Spam has a completely identifiable Subject line - i.e., you'll know it when you see it. The most important thing is: Do you recognize any other the names she gave? If you are, indeed, related to Edwards Whipple GREEN, then I wouldn't pass up the chance to make the contact. You can always Block any future emails. JM.02, Melinda

    2. 1--Seems like did the correct thing by NOT responding. Sounds too vague. 2--Unless she-he-it gave you another email address, how are supposed to reach that person if you are not to use the 'husband's' address? 3--If that person is a legit searcher/researcher of Green info, they're apt to be subscribed to this list and can contact your thru it. 4--You have given all of us a heads up on something new to watch out for. I, too, am leary, wary, suspicious, paranoid of ambiguous sounding 'personal' email. Let us know how this turns out. KA
