    2. Hi, Sorry ,I really couldn't find answer to your question but maybe there is something here that you don't have. Louise Boy am I confused! 3. Hi folks-- First, a note about the messages Kelvin posted. I recognised a couple from the LIRooters list. We've had a problem there because the "Reply" and "Reply to All" buttons routes all replies to the whole list. It is not the fault of the replier who may not have realized this. But the point about the non-information in those quoted posts is valid. If the replier had left the original message < > , we would know what query had been made and could make sense of the reply. Then maybe we'd all learn from it. I know it gets really cumbersome to have all the thread repeated every time, but it's possible to cut just enough of a query to clarify the question for others. {Yeah, I forgot to quote Kelvin's examples here. Sorry!} Joy Weaver -- <joyweave@erols.com> Outline trees for: SELDEN, PALMER, HALLOCK are now up at: http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/w/e/a/Joyce-R-Weaver/ Seeking: USA: BURNSIDE, CLAPP, GREEN, HAIGHT, HALLOCK, HEAD, KING, MERRITT, MORRIS, PALMER, SELDEN, SWAZEY, TAYLOR. 3. I think that was sorta the idea behind the discussion a month or so ago. Remember, no one had the time, knowledge, resources, etc, to actually get the job done. OK, so we can't seem to get a clearing house web site going, so can those of you who have your lines back to the "originals" take a moment to copy an outline of each to the list? 2. Hi David & Ron, David, Sorry you are having address problems. I've had several messages returned. I wanted to add a little to the discussion you and Ron Green had on one of the Lewis Green connections. Ron posted the will of Anne Elyotte Crawley, where she mentions two of her brothers-in-law, Armistead Burwell and Lewis Green. Anne also mentioned Anne Spotswood Burwell in her will which reminded me I have some info on this family. On page 286 of the "Compendium of First American Famillies" the Major Lewis Burwell family is listed. His son Lewis Burwell, who died 1710, resided at Carter's Creek in Glouchester County, Vuirginia, and later lived on King's Creek in YOrk County, Va. This Lewis Burwell married Abigail Smith, and their son Lewis Burwell, born 1684, married Miss. Armistead. Their son, Armistead Burwell, born 1718, was a Burgess in 1752 in Mecklenburg County, Va., and married Christian Blair, who was the daughter of President John Blair, who was the son of Dr. Alexander Blair, who was the brother of Rev. John Blair who started William & Mary College. Blair is one of my lines, and I have tons of info on that family if anyone is interested. The son of Armstead Burwell and Christian Blair was Col. Lewis Burwell, born 1745, married Ann Spotswood, who died in 1789, was the daughter of Col. John Spotswood and his wife Mary Dandridge of the George Washington family. Hopefully this will help someone add to the picture, so we can determine who the Lewis Green was that is listed in the Anne Elyotte Crawley will of 1795.

    1. [GREEN-L] John Greene son of Sir Henry Greene died 1399.
    2. Hi George, You sent me a message July 2, 1989 about this John Green, which I appreciated very much! I had this John Greene identified as "The Fugitive." Do you think this may have been the sword fighter mentioned in the story? I did not have all the children of Walter Greene, the brother of John Greene, and appreciate you sending these names, as you never know when this info will help understand some tid-bit you might come across. In that light, you mentioned that Sir Robert Greene of Hertfordshire, the son of Walter Green, the son of Sir Henry Greene & Matilda Mauduit, married Seisley, daughter and heir of Sir John Clay (Cley). I show this as the Clay line that married into the Seagull Green line in the 1700's. You will recall that three siblings, Amy, Charles, and Henry Clay married William Green, and two of his daughters, Lucy and Martha Green. Of course there was over 200 years between these marriages, but it makes me wonder???? What do you think? Good to hear from you, and I always respect your info and opinion. Tom Green

    3. I sincerely and humbly apologize to you all. I have read all that has come back, and stand chastised. The "short-fuse" comment for Friday was appropriate. It was not my intent to be mean-spirited, though my terse comments made it seem so. This forum is an extremely valuable tool to post Green family information, general information, thoughts and queries. I recognize that most of it doesn't apply to my own line. I have saved probably 25% of what I've received via GREEN-L. Some may apply, some bears further study. Some are the gemstones in the nuggets one needs. I never meant to to try suppress this wonderful interchange. I do appreciate all the hard work that people have done researching Green ancestors. I ,too, have holes in my ancestery that I'm trying to fill. I should have phrased that question in terms of "common sense." Should we not use the criterion of "Does this need to go to everyone, or just to the person who posted it?" Again, my apologies to those I may have offended. Bill
