    3. Researchers, Below is the description and URL of a beautiful family Family Sampler, made by Lucy H. Wright. This sampler is being auctioned off on a Internet on line auction site. It's a shame this information could be lost. She has to be someone's ancestor and the information contained on it could fill a vacant gap for someone. Del Del Black In the beautiful Tehachapi Mountains of California American Family Register Sampler for the Wright Family. Made of silk on linen. It was made by Lucy H Wright in 1826, and lists the births of all her family members from the parents in 1776 to the last date of 1833. There are three sets of alphabets, numbers and lists of family members. LUCY'S name and dates are in the body of the sampler as well as in the list. There is a column and several design other elements. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=29484743

    2. For Sue Pawley. Just a little tip, try turning Charles FM GREEN's name around. For years I had been dead-ended on Elizabeth "Betsy" DENNY. From a "chat" on the DENNY list, I picked up a lead on Caron DENNY, who turned out to be Cariann Elizabeth "Betsy" DENNY, my husband's great-great grandmother. Good luck, Carol

    3. I'm going to take a new tack. I have posted my missing Green, Jennie B. GREEN, b.1870, Ohio, on the list just recently. Since that time I have discovered she had at least one sibling named Rose GREEN. Perhaps this will help as a recognition point in case anyone spots the two of them on a census. I have no idea what county in Ohio they were born. Thanks Harold in TX

Mary Ann Green 1767 - Aft. 1850 in Gwinnett Co., Georgia +Isaac Horton 1763 - 1854 The way I see it, the 1790 census shows Meshack¹s first wife and early children -- this schematic matches if ³Francy² is female and Thomas is just old enough to be listed in the ³over 16² column. The 1800 census shows Meshack¹s younger second wife and John and James Moses (born in the first half of the year) in the males under ten, and most likely John Green Sr. in the 10-16 column at only 14 yrs old. Either there is a missing girl and Francy is gone or she is exatly ten years old and still included in the under ten class. Probably the latter. The 1810 census is problematic. Francy is nearly twenty and well married, and there is a new daughter not yet identified. (A Sarah b. 1805 has been proposed). The two ten to 16 males are John and James Moses. The problem is, there is only ONE male under ten in the census. Pick your choice-- only one of George, Meshack and William belongs with this group. The other two of the three are definite possibilities for sons of Meshack¹s sons from the first family if there are any openings -- good luck. Another possiblity is that this 1810 census is the wrong man and that is the reason for the disparity. Any opinions out there? 1. [GREEN-L] Another Lewis Green - VA.
    2. Hi Group, While reviewing my copies of the "Compendium of First American Families," I noticed another Lewis Green on page 428 of Volume 5. In 1668, Capt. Henry Batte patented 5,878 acres of land in Charles City County, Virginia south of the Appomattocx River. His daughter, Rachel Batte inherited much of this land and 1720 married James Parham, who was the son of Ephraim Parham, who died in 1726, and had married Frances Green in 1655. Frances Green was the daughter of Lewis Green, who was the son of Matthew Green, who was the son of James Green. Can anyone provide additional info on this Green family? Tom Green

    3. In regard to what Tom said about the three wives of Col. Henry WILLIS, I agree with Col. WILLIS having three wives. However, the second wife was not Mildred HOWELL. She was Mildred LEWIS. She had a first marriage to John HOWELL and had one child by him. Then she married Dr. John BROWN and no children by that marriage. Her third husband was Col. Henry WILLIS and it was this marriage that produced Ann WILLIS who married Duff GREEN. After Mildred LEWIS Howell-Brown-Willis died, Col. WILLIS did marry Mildred WASHINGTON and they had one child. Mildred LEWIS & Mildred WASHINGTON were first cousins, not sisters as Tom has pointed out. Their mothers were WARNER sisters. Imogene Bennett ibennett@mail.orion.org

    3. William, I did not mean to tell anyone what to do. I simply want to make the point that to many people make to big a deal about the small things in life. I hate to see anyone so unhappy with such small matters. The so called spamming has given me a wealth of info and I personally feel that there are others out there and have seen the replies that have found info in the same manner. I took on my genealogy project when I was told my days were numbered because I wanted to leave behind something for my son to know where he came from and to have a pride in such. How I find this information is of no matter, if by chit-chat, spam, email, or the friends I have met thru lists just such as this. I apologize if you found that I was trying to tell you what to do. That was never my intention, the intention was that if a person is so unhappy with the amount of info going back and forth and they are not getting anything from this list they should simply unsubscibe. My apologies to the group.
