Hi, My name is Bob Green and I am trying to trace my family lines. My great grandfather Peter Green was born in 1855 in Waywanda N.Y. and died 3/27/1933 in Hamptonburgh,N.Y. He married Etta M. Howell born 1860 in 1878. Children of Peter and Etta Grace , Warren Sanford my grandfather,Bertrand,Fred, and Margaret. Peter's death certificate states his father was Albert Green and his mother Catherine. Found Peter and Etta in East, Wantage N.J. in the 1880 Census Living next to Albert age 68 Elizabeth wife 65, John 20 son, and Kate 18 DIL, Albert states he is born in N.J., his father France, and his mother N.J. I don't know if Elizabeth is Albert's second wife or Peter death record mistates his mothers name as Catherine. If anyone knows anything about this line of Green's I would like to hear from them. Thanks . Bob Green

Hi Listers, I started to scan the Jasonville High School Diploma. that was wrapped around a cardboard tube. The diploma, being larger than the tube, obscured the ends of the tube, and hid the paper it contained inside. It is a large Diploma/ Certificate of completion from: Southern - Indiana - Hospital - for - the - Insane Under that heading is a small picture of two horse drawn covered wagons. Below the wagons is written: This certifies that SCHUYLER C. HANNA has completed the required term of instruction in the TRAINING SCHOOL for NURSES of the SOUTHERN INDIANA HOSPITAL for the INSANE with credit for good character and conduct, and has passed the examination of the regular coarse of two years. Signed by the Board of Trustees: W.R. Gardiner W.R. McMahan third name written to fancy to read! Lecturers: S.K. Sessions, M.D. John F. Glover, M.D. Mary T. Wilson The document has two slots cut in the lower left hand corner with a piece of green silk like ribbon, 1 1/2" wide, threaded through the slots. Possible a piece of the ribbon from a graduation gown??? Regards, Del
To: List subscribers, Subject: Metta Hanna documents. I have received forty or fifty letters since my post about the documents of Metta Hanna. None connected directly to Metta, but from concerned and helpful people from all over the country. Some wrote to just say thank you for me trying to find a home for these items, and many with constructive ideas and suggestions. Tonight my wife and I went down the mountain for dinner. When we returned home I had about fifteen letters in my in box, in reference to the Metta Hanna documents. Most were heart warming but one message hit me wrong. I may be getting touchy with old age. Here is the letter I took offence to. (copied and pasted) Hi! I would love to have these! I will pay for postage and a reasonable cost. I have been researching Crawford Co., IN for years, and have a connection to the Johnsons! Please let me know! To make money from the Metta Hanna items was not the object of my post. These are not the kind of treasures to be bartered or sold. My only intentions, when I made the post, was to find a close family descendent of Metta Hanna's. Hopefully one involved in genealogy, and make them a gift of these items. In my estimation the above letter doesn't prove diddly squat to me. It sounds more like an unconcerned collector of antique documents, rather than a grateful excited relative of Metta's. The person that gets these items will have to do a little better at proving there relationship to Metta than the letter indicates. Besides, I took offence to the offer of money for something I wished to give to a deserving person. The treasure is not really mine to sell and it will not be sold. It is the property of Metta Hanna and if I can not find any one I feel should have it, it will be given to an entity that will make it available to all to view and benefit from. If I am wrong I'm sorry, but that is the way it's going to be! It is not my intentions to hurt any ones feelings by this writing, flaming the person that made the offer nor to start a fire in anyone's hip pocket. I'm an old man and set in my ways. Since the ball game is in my back yard, I'll make all the rules. One thing more, in my original post I stated the High School diploma was from Johnsonville High. It is rolled extremely tight and every time I unrolled it to read, it curled back up. Actually it is Jasonville High. Thanks to those of you that caught my error. Sincerely and best wished, Del Del Black In the beautiful Tehachapi Mountains of California

I'm really green when it comes to genealogy - - oh, sorry, I mean I'm new at this! Seriously, I am most anxious to locate any information concerning Cynthia Green, born between 1788 and 1800, in either Pound Ridge, NY or Fairfield County, CT (probably 1789 in pound Ridge). Died in Norwalk or Darien, CT, about 1834. Her parents may have been Joseph Green (1768-1836) and Elizabeth Merritt. She was married to Smith Mills of Darien, CT, and lived in Darien and then Norwalk, CT. Does anyone know of these people? Thanks for your help! Nan Eckfeld eckfeld@kenton.com

Hello everyone! I am seeking to identify the parents of Angelina Ziegenfuss Green Born 8 Dec 1825 in PA, D: 30 Apr 1896 in Steelville, Crawford, MO. She married John Jordan Upchurch 11 Jun 1841 in Raleigh, Wake, NC. I believe her father was named Salome or Solomon Green who was married to a -------------- Ziegenfuss, a sister of John Ziegenfuss. Mr Green and his wife were both dead by 1830 and their daughter Angelina was raised by her Uncle John Ziegenfuss. In 1830, John Ziegenfuss, with Angelina Ziegenfuss Green in his household is living in Lower Nazerath Township in Northampton County, PA. By 1840, they are in Wake county, North Carolina. Does any of this ring a bell with any of you? Thanks, Jan ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. In a message dated 98-09-25 18:57:00 EDT, you write: << William son of John in the books i have was lost at sea, but married before he left. His son was born after William was lost. I do not think he ever made it back because John wrote to Patrick Henry who contacted Thomas Jefferson who was at that time in France. TJ wrote back to Pat Henry that William had not been found. >> Hi Stella, Yes, I have read the info you posted, and have seen the letter to Thomas Jefferson, but on page 276 of the book, "Faquier County in the Revolution" the following paragraph tells the story I passed on. "At Valley Forge the game was also one of watchful waiting. For Col. John Green it was one of continued anguish. His eldest son, William, only 21, had gone to sea, influenced by some of his tidewater relatives. In May he was Captain of the American sloop Defiance off the Virginia capes. The Defiance was captured by a British figate and Captain Green was reputedly lost at sea. He cscaped and turned up three years later, but in June of 1778 Col. Green had lost, or thought he had, his three eldest sons. He fought grimly on, the war was not over and he could usually be found where the battle raged hottest. The Greens did not give up easily." Page 263 of this book tells the story of the duel where eighteen year old son of Col John Green, Duff Green was killed in a duel. He had just turned 18 before joining the war, and was killed in February 1778. Page 267 of the book tells of the death of the third son of Col. John Green, young Lt. John Green, age 20, died suddenly in April of 1778, just as the 1st Virginia Regiment under Col. Charles Harrison, was preparing to leave Virginia. I have no idea if this book is accurate and the others are incorrect, but I have seen that Capt. William Green died in 1859. What do you think? Tom Green
Hello Greene family researchers. Im actually looking for several items today. First is the parents of Mary Francis Goodwin Greene (1833 - 1871) wife of Comer Clement Clay Greene.
