    2. Hi - I'm new so I'm throwing out my names.... Also I believe there is some relationship between the people listed below and a Nathanael Richard Greene and his son (? I think?) Richard Giles Greene who married a Mary Ann Molhaur (I think that's the last name). Anyway, if any of this rings a bell, I hope to hear from someone..... 3. Hi, I have a record of a Jacob Greene (sic) born bet 1775 and 1785 in Anson, now Stanly or Montgomery County NC. His father seems to be Gidion Greene of Anson. So far brothers, Jonas, Richard, and Wm. I suspect a this is a misreported family. I "may" stem from a sister to these Greenes. However I have two lines of research which disagree, one said she was born and married in VA to a Randolph Blake so can not (or is not likely to) be sister to these Greenes. Either way I would like to find these boys also, to solve this. We also have another line of Greens in the same area of Montgomery County, NC. Searching for all Greens of Montgomery Copunty, NC. 2. In a message dated 98-11-05 09:35:08 EST, you write: << NORTH CAROLINA HISTORICAL REVIEW VOL 22, 1945 ...."For a brief time, this Ferry was kept by a woman, the doughty HANNAH GRAVES, who had survived the Indian masscares as the wife of the slain FARNIFOLD GREEN and who outlived three other husbands included besides him!" --- Hi Ron, I have again re-read the article on Page 762 of Volume 2 of "Genealogies of Virginia Families" and notice that Farnifold Green was killed in a Tuscarora massacre between November 11, 1713 and 1714 when his will was presented to the Craven County court by Richard Graves. This would imply that his will was presented in court by his father-in-law. Do you agree? The article goes on to talk about the will of Richard Graves and various members of the family including Hannah and Farnifold Green Jr. Can any of the researchers of this family give the details of this family? There is also mention of Thomas Graves, brother of Richard, who came to Jamestown in 1608! This is getting back to the beginning of European settlement of our country, and I would love to know how all these people fit together! Best Regards, Tom Green

    1. [GREEN-L] Wife(s) of Farnifold Green?
    2. Hi Ron, I read your message about Hannah Graves, the wife of Farnifold Green with interest. I have not done any research on this family, but have collected some data on the family which says that Hannah Consolvo, the daughter of Lawrence Consolvo, was the wife of Farnifold Green, who was killed by Indians in about 1714. This info came from page 762 of Volume 2 of "Genealogies of Virginia Families" compiled for info from the William and Mary Quarterlies. There is mention of Mary Graves, the daughter of Richard Graves married to Farnifold Green, but it is not clear to me if this writer was talking about Farnifold Green senior or junior. I also show that Hannah Consolvo, born May 10, 1673, was previously married to a Mr. Kent. Do you think this was another woman named Hannah, who had remarried to a Mr. Graves after Farnifold Green was killed in 1714? Can anyone strighten this mess out??? Best Regards, Tom Green

    3. Seems to me there are a terrific amount of GREEN's that get lost down through the years. And it also seems they were mostly women. Too bad the women were considered to be of no importance. Seems all they did was bear many children and die early. Then the men married again and had several more. Life was very difficult for both sexes, but it seems to me that the women took the brunt of the force of life. I'm still looking for Jennie Green, b. 25 Sept 1870, Ohio. No parents names on only one sibling known, Rosella Green. In 1899 Jennie was 29 and Rosella was 22, and they were in Ligonier, IN and So. Whitley Co. IN. Have had several promising emails, but nothing yet to connect to any other Greens. 3. Richard, I have the following information: Mary F. Goodwin married Clement C. Green on April 25, 1850, in DeKalb County, Georgia. I have noticed a number of similarities in names of your family line and that of my 5th great-granduncle, Frederick Green(e). I have not researched his descendents, so I cannot say with any assurance that you are related to him. I do have a little information on this family that I hope will help you with your research. Frederick Green(e) was born November 11, 1732. He died in 1787 and left a will in Brunswick County, Virginia. He married first, Leticia _____(Hancock ?). They had a son named Clement Green(e) born June 15, 1760. He married Frances Parham, February 14, 1783 in Brunswick County, Virginia. Clement Green(e)'s Godparents were William Mitchell, Robert Wynne Raines, and Mary Prichard. Frederick Green(e) was the older brother of my 5th great-grandfather, Peter Green(e), born May 22, 1734. Many descendents of this Peter Green(e) came to Georgia. My 2nd great-grandfather was named James Lawrance (Lawrence, Laurance) Greene. His sister Elizabeth Bass Greene married William Duggan Etheridge. They named a son Henry Clay Etheridge. I hope this helps! Cindy ---------- > From: Richard H. 2. In a message dated 98-11-03 08:51:09 EST, you write: << Hi again, I have Wm Green born 1677 died after 1744 and before 1745, original source of information unknown, of Amelia County, VA. Is this the same Wm Green. I have this Wm connected to Thomas Green m. Filmer. Ken >> HI Ken, Yes, I would say so, but as you probably know, the dates for the Seagull Green family vary considerable from one researcher to another. William Green was probably the youngest son of Thomas "Seagull"Green, born 1635, as sea coming to America. If this birth date is correct, you would assume his children would have been born from about 1655 until about 1695, or from age 20 until about age 60. Most of the info I have seen estimated that his son William Green was born about 1705. I guess this is possible, but I think very unlikely that his father was 70 years old when his son was born. Your birth date of 1677 seems much more likely. Where did you find this date? In any case, William Green married Amey Clay about 1725 and he died some time before August 22, 1747 when his will was probated. William Green had an older brother named Thomas Green born about 1665, who married Elizabeth Marston. This couple had two daughters, Lucy and Martha Green who married Henry and Charles Clay, two brothers of Amey Clay Green. These families moved to Kentucky and were the ancestors of both the famous Henry Clay and James Calhoon. Hope this helps. Tom Green

Other than Allen Greene, who was my gr gr gr grandfather (B. 1776 in RI), I know nothing else about the Greenes posted above, but hopefully these tidbits will help someone. For example, if your ancestor is listed above as dying in TN or IN, you will know that at some point he/she was in or near Buffalo or that area would not have listed an obituary for him/her. The one problem with this book is that it does not identify the original source for the obituary. 1. [GREEN-L] Burket[t]/all spell
    2. Martha C Veselka
    3. Good morning Green family; I have received so many emails concerning BURKET[T]/allspell. that I thought this would be an easy one but, alas its the same as all my family names. VEDDY difficult. I have written numerous time to the gen. asking for her source that listed Burket[t] Green, as the father of Nancy G. w. to John Ussery but, she does not respond. I haven't the foggest idea where she retrieved the data. I spoke to another Ussery family historian last night, who is also descended from the same Ussery as me and she told me she had "never found the name Green associated with our Ussery family." Now that does not mean that the other gen. is wrong it just means we have not found the source as yet. Does anyone know if there was a Burket[t] G. listed anywhere in Ala.? Welcome U.[alledged] grandson of Burket[t] G. was born in Ala. in 1806 according to census. Welcome and Matilda's dau, Nancy Jane was born in Tenn.c1842. Has anyone done any Green research in Ala. and/or Tenn around 1806? :~} Martha

    3. Dear Folks, I have been "unsubscribed" from the Green site for about a month, so if you have written previous messages, I have not seen them. However, your research into the Greens of Warwick, NY interests me very much. My ancestor, Ebenezer Green, was a charter member of the old Baptist Church at Warwick in the 1760s (sorry I do not have all of my notes handy for exact dates). I do not know any of his history before he shows up on the list of charter members of the old church. Howeer, since most of the other members came from CT, I have assumed that Ebenezer also may have come from there. He is the only Green that I have come across right at the town of Warwick, but there were many other Greens in Orange County at that time. There was Peter Green a French Huguenot who came into the county about 1700 and settled southeast of Warwick near Ringold, NJ, but may have been near enough to Warwick to attend church services there. I know that Ebenezer Green lived awhile at least just over the NJ border in Sussex Co but still attended church services at Warwick. Just before and during the Revolutionary War, many of the Old Baptist Church members tried to settle in parts of PA (Wyoming Valley and farther west along the Susquehannah River at Muncy, etc. Ebenezer took his family to Muncy during that War but subsequently moved just over the border in 1788 to Chemung, NY because of all the troubles with the PA authorities over land rights and titles. I will be interested to hear more about your Green ancestors. Thanks. Betty Brassington
