    2. John & Dawn Lepre
    3. Hi cousins, Now I have another Green to add to my list. I found an article in a local paper from 1905 which had a picture of my 5th great uncle and a whole story about him turning 90. His name was John Sprague Green. Well in this story it mentions his Great grandfather ( my 6th Great grandfather) William Green it states that he was in the Revolutionary war. And gives some info about that who he served under and his Certificate# from when he was paid. I am so happy I could scream. But I have a question. I checked the 1800 census for Orange Co. NY, Warwick and found him but all they said then as you all know is the # of sons and daughters no names. I now have a missing link. I had as far back as Moses Green but now I need to know who Moses' father was, the same person as Williams' son. I now have a gap and I am still very new at this not sure where to look now. Any suggestions? All help appreciated. Thanks again. This is what I had on my last Green I knew of. Of Warwick Ny and Vernon NJ. Moses Green b. Dec 12, 1791 d. 2. Karen Howell
    3. Several weeks ago, a member of this list quoted from a publication called "Climbing the Green Tree and Some Other Branches" by Watson Kirkconnell. It lists my line of Greens that moved to Canada in the 1790's. It also claims that Samuel Green(1671-1760) of northwest New Jersey is a son of John Green(1620-1708) of RI and grandson of John the Surgeon. This information does not agree with the descendent tree on Noel's Web Site. I'm a novice at genealogy and would like the opinions on this discepancy of anyone that is familiar with the publication and/or John (the Surgeon) Green. Thank you, Karen Howell

    2. Tim Merrill
    3. I've been trying for months to figure out where William Greene and Ruth Hunter fit into the Green line, so the message from Gerald Greene with info on them was welcome indeed! I'm wondering, though, Gerald if you could provide more data on William Greene's ancestors? You mention a chart, James G. Greene of RI, and a Jaben Greene. I have Wm Greene and Ruthie Hunter from the line of Thomas Green (b. abt. 1640), Edward Green (1670-1728), Edward Green (1700-1783). This line is originally from southern VA, mostly Southhampton County, then moves to Warren County, NC about 1750. No Rhode Island. Can anyone help with this? Tim Merrill

    3. Principal Frank L. Greene's genealogy concerning the descendants of Joseph Greene of Westerly, Rhode Island, is now available in Family Tree Maker's genealogy library. Subscription rate is around $6 per month, but there is a less expensive annual fee. Check Family Tree Maker's site on the net for more information. You'll remember that Joseph Greene was apparently a descendant of John of Quidnessett, not of Surgeon John Greene. Patricia

    2. Phillip L. Green
    3. A lecturer teaching medicine was tutoring a class on 'Observation'. He took out a jar of yellow-colored liquid. "This", he explained, "is urine. To be a doctor, you have to be observant to color, smell, sight, and taste." After saying this, he dipped his finger into the jar and put it into his mouth. His class watched on in amazement, most, in disgust. But being the good students that they were, the jar was passed, and one by one, they dipped one finger into the jar and then put it into their mouth. After the last student was done, the lecturer shook his head. "If any of you had been observant, you would have noticed that I put my 2nd finger into the jar and my 3rd finger into my mouth."

    3. Looking for the parents of William D. Green born abt 1803 in NY. He married Anna Belden. He is listed on the 1850 census for Amity, Allegany county, NY with: Adelia age 25, Andrew age 16, Willard age 14, Lewis age 12, Algernon age 9 and Anna age 3. In 1860 he was still in Amity, most of the older children were gone, but there was a Catherine Cline age 72 living in the household, no place of birth given. Andrew, Willard, Lewis and Algernon all ended up in Big Rapids, Mecosta County, MI by the 1860s along with a sister, Amanda, who had married Alfred Mason of Chautauqua Co. NY....all were involved for a time in the timber industry. Andrew was living in Chautauqua Co. when he purchased his land in MI. He married Donna Harrison of Jamestown, Chautauqua Co. Does any of this ring any bells for anyone? I'm stuck trying to tie William in with any of the other Green(e) families in the area. Thanks, Sue Perrault

At some point Sarah moved to Texas where she met and married my great grand father George Payne Chaney. Thanks for any help you may offer..

    3. re: DUTY GREEN, SMITH GREEN, CALEB GREEN, CHARLES GREEN, HENRY GREEN, MARK GREEN, PAMELIA GREEN, MARGARET GREEN, and others. Hello all...I am posting a bunch of Greenes, who went from RI>NY>OH>MO, so you might want to check them carefully and see if any missing Greenes appear. I was able to collect this information from the Washington County, Ohio Genealogy library in Marietta, Ohio, which was the first organized settlement in the Northwest Territory. A number of Rhode Islanders settled there in the late 1700s, including Greenes from both John the Surgeon Greene and John Green of Quidnessett lines. Duty Green descended from John of Quidnessett (John, John, John, John of Quid). His brothers and sisters were: 2 Elizabeth Green 2 Caleb Green 2 Lucy Green 2 Silas Green 2 Fear Green 2 John Green 2 Clarke Green 2 Philamon Green (Philamon married Lydia Davis - had a line of NY Greenes.) In my next email I will post the full genealogy report of Duty Green - below is the outline of his descendants: Descendants of Duty Green 1 Duty Green b: 1761 in Rhode Island d: July 1842 in Barlow Twp, Washington Co., Ohio .. +Polly Smith b: 1769 d: 1824 ......... 2 Duty Green b: 1787 in New York d: November 10, 1851 in Washington Co., Ohio ............. +Polly Henry b: July 18, 1790 in Pennsylvania d: October 12, 1877 .................... 3 Charles Wesley Green b: January 1812 in New York d: April 19, 1880 in Crown Hill, Sedalia, MO ........................ +Susan Park b: January 09, 1815 in Oneida Co, New York d: July 15, 1892 in Crown Hill, Sedalia, MO ............................... 4 Daniel Park Green b: October 14, 1837 d: Unknown ................................... +Eliza Carlin ............................... 4 Henry O. 1. [GREEN-L] WM GREEN, CA 1846
    2. I am new to this list and here is the GREEN I am searching info on. Wm GREEN b abt 1820, NY. IN 1846 he joined up with the volunteer's of Stevenson's Regiment to assist when the Bear Flag Rebellion started in CA. He is listed as born in NY with both parents born in Ireland. Wm spent the remainder of his life in the Sonoma area of CA where he was known as Capt. GREEN, raised a family and died in 1899. There is a lot printed on Wm in CA - my wish is to locate where in NY he came from and where in Ireland his parents emigrated from. This Wm is a GGF to my 87 yr old mother-in-law. Any clues deeply appreciated. char@aol.com
