Hello All, My name is Elaine Dennison. My birth father is Francis Marimon Green who died in 1980. My sister, Lynda Jean and I were adopted by our new father, Henry Brock Pinckard, when I was about 4. I just saw Francis, my father, one time that I can rembember, even though I saw him when I was little. I long to know him in the next life, my grandparents, counsins, and uncles and aunts. Our adoptive father took Lynda, Kim, our sister from him and Mother, and I to meet our grandparents, Charles Hubert Green and Elizabeth May Spencer when I was 16 years old. It was a happy reunion. I also saw Francis, then, my birth father, and Lynda's. My grandmother, Elizabeth May Spencer Green, gave me quite a lot of geneology information in letters. She talked about all old Kentuckiens would say they came from old Virginia. Francis Marimon Green, my birth father was born 2 July 1912 in Scottsville, Kentucky. He died Nov. 1980. He lived in Secour, Illinois most of his life that I Know. My grandparents, Elizabeth May Spencer Green and Charles Hubert Green lived in Eureka, Illinois. He was born in Allen Co., Kentucky, 20 Mar 1886 and she was born 13 Oct. 1889 in Scottsvile, Allen Co., Kentucky. Charles Allen Green, his father, was married to Mary Jameson. They would be my great grandparents. I don't have any dates on them. His father was Robert William Green. He was married to Mary Jane Duff. I don't have any dates on them, either. The Jamesons and Duffs were Scotch. I have Mary Jamesons parent's. They are Marimon Dillard Jameson and Margaret McCormick. The McCormick's were Irish. I don't have dates on them. If any of you can make a connection or help further mine, I would love to hear from you. I really missed not knowing my relatives. I'm thankful, though for the little I know of Francis and my grandparents and for the inforation she gave me.

It lists all his descendants, and I thought it might lend some clues for others on this list because of the many surnames and many locations of these descendants: It is, unfortunately, not dated, for some odd reason, but clearly the petition was brought to the court some time after Hiram Green's death in 1876 TO THE SURROGATE of the COUNTY OF CATTARAUGUS: The petition of Nelson H. Hello Everyone. After reading Carolyn's message I tend to agree with her. My family for the past 100 years have always thought Gruen was our original name. I was always told Gruen was German for Green. Does anyone know of Virginia Greens, around 16 to 1800, who's name was Gruen before the change to Green? I vividly remember seeing mention of a Jennie Green and a sister whose name escapes me at the moment. She was in the Children's Home sometime during the late 1860s or 1870s, maybe a bit later. I just don't remember but I really think you should investigate this lead. The reason I remember it so well, and then ruling it out, was because the time frame was all wrong, much too late for my Jennie Green. There were Greens in the orphanage at various times, such as my Jennie Green, her brother Matthew Green Jr., and a Mary Hagney plus some other Greens, such as a second Jennie Green, maybe an Elizabeth? Green her sister, and a George Green. The second Jennie Green and her sister, I think, were there during the 1870's or 1880's. Mine was there only for one month, in Oct. of 1867, and she was born 1859. But I have no doubt there is a Jennie Green later in the books. It was spelled JENNIE, not JENNY. This is in the records of the Children's Home in Cincinnati Historical Society. The mother I believe, was still alive, and the father had abandoned them. Later on in the year, the mother came back and took them back home. There were so many children that I cannot separate the details. I did not make a copy because it was not my Jennie Green. If you wish more information on Jennie Green the later one, contact Linda Bailey at lbailey@fuse.net who works at the Cincinnati Historical Society. The records of the Children's Home are fairly well indexed but handwritten....Jennie Green would be probably numbered 800 or later. My Jennie Green was number 370, her brother Matthew Jr. was number 369, and Mary Hagney was number 371. Linda Bailey, the archivist there, can probably help you do a quick lookup for a reasonable fee. I suggest you contact her. I will copy her this note. Good luck. By the way, hunting for Greens is nowhere nearly as damning as hunting for Williams or Smiths. I know this to be a fact. I often do not find GREENs in entire tracts of the country, for example, New Mexico Territory had very few, if any, Greens in 1850. I do agree that it is difficult. But a name like Jennie or Jenny or Matthew is fairly uncommon among Greens. It is relatively easy to find all incidences and then eliminate each one til you have the one you are looking for. Morning Joanne, Welcome grandson of Burkett G. was born in Ala. Where? I haven't the foggiest idea but when I rceive the data I will post it to the list. I know nothing about Burkett because not knowing if he was or wasn't related [no source] I have done nothing in way of gen. I really didn't write to too many people on the list because I simply did not have answers. That is about to change. Martha >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Joanne you wrote; Is your Burkett Green in Jackson Co. Al. I'm not sure if we have spoken before. However, at one time I thought Burkett Green was the father of my William B. Green in Jackson Co. Al.
