Looking for info on Greens in Addison Township, (Somerset County, Pennsylvania) which is located on Somerset's southwestern border with Fayette County and the Garrett County in Maryland. The Somerset genweb page lists a property owned in the area by Tommy Green. This should be the Thomas Green who appears in 1800 and 1810 census records along with a Richard Green and James Green. Thomas went to Fairfield County, Ohio about 1810 but soon died there. His estate papers list heirs as Richard, John, William and executor Elizabeth Green (wife?). Looking for more info on the family, where they might have come from and lines of the children. Brian Green
Just rcd. an email that my info concerning the WILL of John Green was confusing. I am including the URL for the site. Go there and under WILLS look for Ann Ussery. She could have been a Moore/Gee/Green or? <<<<<>>>>> I believe a Moore and I don't know if this is the John Ussery that wed Nancy Green 1797. <http://www.geocities.com/cindycasey/anne.htm> At the top of the page Cindy includes "an interesting theory, Dec 23,1797 a John Ussery and Nancy Green were married in Lunenburg Co." [VA] referred to above. Martha
Thanks to Mel Miller, I now have the father of my missing Jennie Green, b. 25 Sept 1870, Ohio. She married Joseph BRADFORD WEAVER, 1 Oct 1890 in Noble Co., IN. Her father Charles Green is from OH and I was hoping someone could do a lookup for him in Ohio perhaps through a marriage record to Sarah A. LOWE. I have no idea where in OH to find them, but I hope the ones who do these look-ups on a regular basis will know where to look. If the marriage record can be found it will be one more step towards where these GREEN's came from. Thanks, Harold Williams Mesquite, TX (Dallas suburb) willhn@flash.net
Sue....... I have already been to this site - it takes forever to download the page with the name you are searching because it is a scanned image of the original document. So probably the reason you aren't getting to see the part of the directory you want is either that your browser can't handle the download, or your modem is slower so it takes longer than forever to download, or you are "leaving" too fast before it has downloaded, or something like that! So just click on the name you want, then take a nap, then return to see if the image has arrived. Let me know if you can't access it, and I will try on my computer for you to see if Charles Green/e is there. I can always use a nap! While doing some research on my USSERY family I found a site ccasey, under genforum USSERY,going thru the WILLS under "LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ANNE USSERY, in notes I found *Deed 20-6 April 12, 1804-John and Ann Ussery, James and Ann Green, James Gee, Jeremiah Gee, Jesse Gee, HEIRS of JOHN GREEN, dcd. to John Blackwell. This could have been the John Ussery that wed Nancy Green 1797, alledged dau. of Burkett Green but I doubt it. I believe since reading this that Nancy was the dau. of John Green, dcd. and she may have also been decd. and John had rewed an Ann[?] Moore. This is the same Anne, WILL, she died approx, 1812 Lunenburg, VA. executor, Jesse Gee, jr. No issue from this union. All children by John U. 1st wife. who ever she was. Martha
Hi folks! >From another mailing list Im on, the following site offers a search of city directories for various years and locales. I have a birthdate as July 7, 1820. I haven't done any research on him as his brother Wilson Green was my direct line. Parents of my George Washington were Jeremiah and Kaherine Hagman Green of North Carolina. If you think this is the same man I would be interested in anything you might have on him and his family. Wilson and Jane Wilson Green were my gggrandparents. Charlene Green Upton
I am looking for the parents of Mary Ann "Polly" Green b 1840 in NC who married Greenville Hawkins and eventually settled in Bradley cty TN. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks ange, proud Rootsweb sponsor aoldham@earthlink.net Have you supported Rootsweb lately??
Leonard, There may be a possible connection with me. I don't have dates for my gggrandfather, Robert William Green. He was married to Mary Jane Duff. My grandmother, Elizabeth May Spencer, gave me this information in a letter when I was a teen ager. I noticed William was a sibling to Charles S. Green born 1814 in Virginia. The estimated time frame for Robert William would be about right. My grandmother told me all old Kentuckians, which she and my grandfather, Charles Hubert Green were would tell you that their people came from "Old Virginia". Charles Hubert was born in Allen Co., Kentucky, 20 Mar 1886. His father was Charles Allen Green who was married to Mary Jameson. I don't have dates on them and then his father was Robert William Green. My birth father was Francis Marimon Green born 2 July 1912 in Scottsville, Kentucky. He died Nov. 1980. I'm looking for any relations and ancestors also. Elaine Dennison in Tucson, Az. hendenn@flash.net
Hi Folks! Since we seem to have some new members on the list I thought I would repost the info I have on my Great Grandfather in the hopes that someone might have or seen some info on him - somewhere - anywhere...... Charles FM Greene b abt 1850 supposedly in Richmond VA Henrico County, d- 1912 Manhattan NYC. Parents supposed to be Charles Greene and Mary George. Dates unknown for both and names are from Charles FM's death certificate. Other children unknown. Earliest info on Charles FM that I can find is that he shows up in Athens, Greene Co NY in 1874. In the 1875 NY State census, he is married to Emily aka Emma Church with first son. Occupation of Charles FM Greene was "Engineer". Children: 1, George Greene b abt 1874 Athens, d 1955 Mount Vernon NY. Wife named Henrietta. Only known child was a Robert Greene presumed to still be alive and I have been trying for years now to locate him ( robert born 5-12-1920 mount vernon ny) 2, Mary aka Nellie Greene b abt 1888 NYC d unknown. Supposed to have married someone by the name of Joe Dutney or Dontney and removed to Danbury CT. Children unknown. 3, son Harry, possibly died in childhood. 4, Charles Edward Greene my grandfather. I am looking for my grt-grt-grandfather Edmund Green born abt. 1795 somewhere in Georgia. He married Drucilla Right Cowsert in 1833 (?) in Newton Co. Ga.. He died in the late 1877's. I am trying to find where they are buried. Also any information about his parents and relatives. I have D. R.'s family back to Ireland. But he is a hard person to trace. Any help out there! Chris
I know this probably is not your Greene line--but I haven't had much luck with my Canadian Greene either. I am looking for information on Thomas Greene (b. 9/6/1861 in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada d. 8/13/1918 in Toledo, OH). I believe his father was also named Thomas and came from Ireland. He married Carrie Schlachter of Toledo, OH, and he served with the Toledo Police Department for 25 years. He died in a questionable hit and run accident while working as a guard in a Toledo park. They had 3 children: William, Loretta, and Gertrude. Hi Fellow Green's, Wondering if someone had a lead in this direction. Researching LEO ALBERTUS GREEN, born in Hagerstown, Maryland circa 1880. Brother Ray and sister Bertie, also other sisters. Ray remained in Hagerstown & lEO ALBERTUS GREEN moved to Pittsburgh, Pa as did sister Bertie who married SAM SPURRIER and remained in Pittsburgh area. LEO ALBERTUS GREEN & MARY ANN SHANNON moved with their family in 1927 from Pittsburgh to Jacksonville, Fl. Trying to find LEO,RAY & BERTIE's parents. I am in the south & society nor library here have census reports for Maryland or Pa. Could someone in Maryland do a census lookup? I would be most grateful. Also if someone needs info on this group forward, I could be of some assistance. Regards, Betty
Thought I'd put this out again. If anyone comes across Hattie S. Green, born somewhere in MO about 1852, please let me know. Thanks Jay Roberts Hamilton, MT
