Any help on this or possible connections would be appreciated. Thanks, Misti Moss mdmoss@pnx.com >> Hi Misti, This is not my direct line but could be connected somehow. I have recently heard from someone else researching this line - here is the message I got from Elaine: Reply-to: eeroosz@flash.net To: DCarey7524@aol.com Hello Dee, I also have a Crabtree line and a Green line. My Crabtree Thomas Crabtree was from Tazewell Co. VA married Susannah Mitchell about 1820s in Tazewell. He then moved to McMinn County, TN where he purchased land in the 1830s. But after Susannah died he married an Easter Green. Her father was William Green and her mother was probably named Mary Jane. They also had a son William Jackson Green who was born in Wythe Co. VA and served in the Civil War. I don't have any other information about this Green family. There was an Abner Green in McMinn County about 1830 or 1840 and I believe he may be connected to this family. Do you have any information that might give clues to this family? Elaine The abstract of the marriage record I saw showed her name as Eastes - and I'm sure who ever took it down just couldnt read the writing. I have also seen where a lady who was named Easter was sometimes shown as Esther or Hester. So you might try that. I do not know who Thomas Crabtree's parents were at this point. I also don't have anything on William and Mary Jane Green. I will be sure to let you know if I find anything. I have Greens and Crabtrees in VA - I'm stumped on my Greens and I collect all Crabtrees. My line descends through GERARD GREEN (born in VA 1761-died in Harrison Co., KY 1845) and his wife Verlinda Littleton. GERARD GREEN was a veteran of the Revolution who migrated to Harrison Co., KY (earlier a part of Woodford Co.) by 1789. He was the son of JAMES GREEN who died in Loudoun County, VA in 1796 and his wife Frances who died in Fleming Co., KY in 1815. In researching my GERARD GREEN I have repeatedly run across GARRETT/GARROD GREEN in nearby Madison Co. & Estill Co. (adjacent to Madsion on the southeast), KY. After years of research, I have found no connection between them, despite the similarity in names, unless both families are connected to a very early Gerard/Garrett/Garrod Green found in the early 1600's near Jamestown, VA. As yet, however, I have been unable to link my line to that very early Garrett Green. However, I have corresponded with several people who are researching the Madison County GARRETT GREEN; the notes they have shared with me contain several intermarriages with members of the Henderson family, and many descendants moved, after 1830, to the area of Missouri you mention. You are probably already in contact with these folks, and probably already have these notes. But if you would like me to forward what I have to you, or forward your query to them, just let me know (the notes are rather lengthy or I would just do it now). Their notes would indicate that your JOHN GARRETT GREEN and his wife MARY POULTEN were first cousins. They think that JOHN GARRETT GREEN was the son of HENRY GREEN and that MARY POULTEN was the daughter of Issac Poulten and ANN GREEN. HENRY GREEN and ANN GREEN POULTEN were the children of GARRETT GREEN who was born in VA in 1740 and died in Garrad Co. KY (right next to Madison Co.) in 1810. In addition to family intermarriage, it should always be remembered that unrelated, but nearby families intermarriaged extensively because of the sparse population on the frontier and the difficulty of travel. Could your Leonard Green and Sarah Green be siblings who married Henderson siblings? If not siblings, surely Leonard and Sarah are cousins of some degree. By the way, the name Leonard does not appear in my Harrison or Fleming County, KY Green families. Let me know if I can be of help. Georgia Green Stamper Georgia Green Stamper
It has been a while since I posted to the list. I am still seeking the parents of Leonard GREEN. Leonard GREEN married Margaret HENDERSON on August 14, 1826 in Estill Co., Ky. Margaret was the daughter of Daniel and Sarah HICKMAN HENDERSON of Madison and Estill Counties. The removed to Clay Co MO ca 1835. Daniel and Sarah HICKMAN HENDERSON's son, Wesley HENDERSON emigrated to Clay Co, Missouri with his family in 1835. He married Sarah GREEN, June 15, 1837 in Clay County. I know that Sarah was the daughter of John Garrett GREEN b 5 Jan 1787-4 May 1870 Clay Co MO, ~ md Mary POULTON b: ca 1790, buried New Hope Cem., Kearney, Mo. I hope someone out there has information about Leonard GREEN. Happy Hunting, Linda

My E-mail address is keheley@galstar.com" Dear Judy and Ed, JAMES GREEN who died in Loudoun County, VA in 1796 (Will Book E, p. 237) had two grandaughters named PARTHENIA GREEN: one was the daughter of his son GERARD GREEN, and the other was the daughter of his son FIELDING GREEN. Both women were born in Kentucky, however, not in Georgia. Neither would appear to be the great-great-grandmother you are seeking, but since the name is repeated twice within one generation perhaps your Parthenia in connected to this family too. JAMES AND FRANCES GREEN had 10 children: GERARD, THOMAS, GEORGE, WILLIAM, FIELDING, ELIZABETH (SHELTON) , MARY (BENNETT), POLLY (SAUNDER), ANN (HARDING) & FRANCES (BARNES). It is believed that most of them migrated from Virginia to Kentucky before dispersing to other areas. I could should use help in locating James Green's parents. --Georgia Green Stamper

This information is really far back and sketchy, but I am working on the descendancy of my own GREEN(E) ancestors, and have a child of Uzziah Green and his second wife Hannah, named Charles Green. This Charles Green was born 6 July 1796 in Pittsfield, VT (per Birth Record from Pittsfield, VT Town Book #1, Page 184). Evidence suggests that this Charles GREEN may have married Lois HALL, and had children. Charles Green's father, Uzziah, relocated to VT about 1787. First names that appear to recur in this line include Nahum, Seriah, Amasa and William.
